This is the issue the Crows have. If ROB is your best player, things aren't going too good.

Wouldn’t be too far off an All Australian squad member, improved every year

Doedee
O'Brien
Laird
Brown
Sholl

I'd take O'Brien if I was picking a team this week, I'd take English if I was building a team for the future.

Goldstein whilst in the twilight of his career, is a far better ruckman.
And we’re surely not basing the English call on one game this year?

I think ROB is equal or better than Goldy now (Goldy beats him as a career so far)

I don’t rate English that high ATM

If you think an injury prone charlie liker is worth pick 2 then good for you.

Oh and Rory Sloane says gday. Easily Adelaide's best player.

Sloane is no longer their best player, I don't even think he's the best Rory in their squad, both Crouch's ahead of him too IMO.

If Sloane isnt their best player then why do taggers go to him and not the Crouch brothers because they know the crabs run sideways and kick little 25m rubbish kicks that go nowhere. The Crouch brothers do not impact games hence why taggers go to Sloane. Sloane the best by a mile even with his banged up body

Spot on. The only thing the Crouch boys are good for are maybe a spot in your Dreamteam/Fantasy team as they rack up so many cheap possessions. Teams are happy to let them do it as they do no damage at all.

Ala Tom Mitchell.
Sloane gains metres and wins the hard, impossible ball to win more often than not.
Notice how the crows improved when he came back.
Lairds game improved cause teams put time into Sloan releasing Laird.
Go and watch the game live, TV doesn't do him justice.
Absolute jet in my opinion. Selwood like in fact.

So Port have a NGA and a Father/Son that they have to potentially use points for, add in Orazio they are going to have to let a player or two to go I suspect, how else do they get these deals done?

I've been thinking the same thing .... as a Crows fan and after watching Lachie Jones all year, I'd love to see what would happen if we had a crack at him a pick 1 (I understand they will want Riley Thilthorpe, so it could maybe only occur if we get pick 2 for compensation for Crouch).

- Port's current picks are worth 2273 points (which will become less once compensation picks are handed out).
- They would have to pay 2400 points to match the bid for pick 1, but they can go into deficit the following year up to 1723 points (however this changes if they trade in or out future picks).
- You would think that getting both Orazio and Aliir would require trading some of their early picks (26, 31, 39) this year and/or future picks next year which would make it difficult for them to have enough points to match it.

If Lachie Jones goes at pick 10 though, then they only need 1116 points to match, which should be fine with trading out other picks.

I may be biased but I can't see how he will go that late though when other players mentioned in the top 10 haven't played all year. (As a comparison, Connor Rozee was mentioned around pick 10 during the season but then leapt up to pick 5 in a strong draft after this performance in the 2018 finals, and Jones' performance in the GF isn't dissimilar to that.)

Everything I’ve heard from the experts in this draft seem to think the top 5-6 are absolute locks with just the order to change. I think the Crows definitely will bid on him at 8 if he hasn’t already been bid on

I can't see us getting to Aliir, he's contracted and Sydney aren't going to let him walk without compensation and we would ( although I guess we never know ) be unlikely to let Ladhams go, Sydney need a ruckman desperately so it's Ladhams or Hayes and we're not letting either go. He's a restricted free agent at the end of 2021 so I'd say we'll be more likely to chase him then.

Fantasia will be 26 or 29 OR a future pick and someone like Bonner, I don't think we have many others on the list surplus to requirements.

That'll leave, as Jelly notes, enough points for Jones and Schofield with points from next year.

If we can get Fantasia (I'm not thrilled, but I get our position ), Jones and Schofield in and lose our picks and Bonner then I reckon we'll have done well and will go into the next draft with all our picks. ( Bar points we've used this year ).

It's also known we have around $750k in TPP banked from this year, given Ebert, Westhoff and Watts have retired, Dixon wouldn't be on the same money we paid him to get him into the club, Boak and Gray would be on less than their last deals I'd think we'll have a decent little sum of money ready to pounce on next year's free agents.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Would you trade Lycett? Considering Ladhams is almost ready to take over?
