Re: Negative defensive footy cure?
Hey Gazza good to come up with a different approach but i am not convinced.
I reckon i have seen a post or heard some one regarding overhauling the whole scoring system.
If the ball goes thru between both goal posts its a goal. still 6 points
if the ball hits the goal post and goes past in between both goal posts or is touched by a player its a goal. still 6 points
If the ball hits the goal post or the point post and the ball goes past in between goal post and point post its a point.
If the ball hits the goal post or the the point post and the ball bounces back into play its play on just like the world game.
This would also get rid of the controversial video replay adjudication.
Another option i thought re the scoring
If the ball hits the goal post or the ball is touched by a player and goes in between both goal posts then its 3 points.
Thus still retaining the Video Review Replay making it more controversial and exciting maybe.

Re: Negative defensive footy cure?
Sick of this attitude that defensive/pressure footy is a bad thing. Defence wins premierships...
I would rather watch an enthralling contest than a one sided goal fest.
I strongly believe the true measure of a side is 1. How they handle the pressure and 2. How well they can shut down sides and apply as much pressure as possible on the opposing side for long periods of time.
Ball movement and goals will follow if you can achieve that

I don't think you'd be saying that if you weren't a Sydney supporter. Possibly the most boring team to watch bar none I reckon.woodublieve12 wrote:Sick of this attitude that defensive/pressure footy is a bad thing. Defence wins premierships...

Also just about every side who has won a flag over the past 20 years have been the best defensive side... and on sydney, i couldn't care less how they win and any side i coached as long as they won... winning is winning and if your bored by that i couldn't give rats
And don't assume what i think...

Re: Negative defensive footy cure?
it is... but you also have to stop the other side. So if i win 2 goals to 1... It's a win and i'll take itBum Crack wrote:I thought the team that kicks the most goals wins???woodublieve12 wrote:Yeah and they have played more finals than most.Bum Crack wrote:I don't think you'd be saying that if you weren't a Sydney supporter. The game has become a tedious defensive roving scrum with low scores,
BORING.

Re: Negative defensive footy cure?
maybe if your side could defend better and didn't have too many blokes who wanted to get their hands dirty you wouldn't have lost last week...Bum Crack wrote:Not if you're a Sydney supporter.
