In some NBL to NBA news Sydney Kings import Jae'Sean Tate has signed with the Houston Rockets to a 3 year deal. In the NBL last season Tate made the All-NBL First Team and helped the Kings get to the Grand Final series.

As well as that former Bullet/Taipan import Torrey Craig has signed with the Milwaukee Bucks and Greg Whittington who played for the Sydney Kings in the 2016-17 season has signed a two-way contract with Craig's former team the Denver Nuggets.

Not NBL news but Aussie big man Aron Baynes also today signed a 2 year deal with the Toronto Raptors.

More good news for the NBL with Washington Wizards star John Wall purchasing an ownership stake in the South-East Melbourne Phoenix.

Again not NBL news but Aussie guard Matthew Dellavedova has re-signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 1 year deal.

Great news for the NBL with the announcement that Bullets F/C Will Magnay is signing a two-way contract with the New Orleans Pelicans becoming the fourth player this month to go from the NBL to the NBA.

Also in NBL news Hawks veteran Tim Coenraad has announced his retirement and will take up a new job with the club.

Big signing for Melbourne United today announcing the signature of star import Scotty Hopson to a 1 year deal. The MVP candidate played for the NZ Breakers last season and finished the season playing in the G-League.

Adelaide add 33 year old Tony Crocker as the second import. Has been playing in the Euroleague

Not easy to replace that size and strength in the middle, especially on the defensive end...we're not blessed with a range of quality big defenders

The Sydney Kings have completed their roster with the signing of import Jarell Martin. The 6'10" PF was a first-round draft pick of the Grizzlies in 2015 and played four years in the NBA with Memphis & Orlando before playing last season in the G-League.

The NBL have released the schedule for the first five rounds of the 2020-21 season which will begin on January 10. The regular season is expected to finish in May ahead of the finals and there will be no NBL Blitz pre-season tournament this season.

The league will use a rolling schedule throughout the season to adapt to the challenges of Covid-19 with the possibility still open for a hub if need be and the NZ Breakers will be based in Melbourne for the early part of the season.

The Sydney Kings have announced the appointment of their new coach Adam Forde. He was an assistant coach with Perth from 2011-19 until last season joining the Kings as an assistant under Will Weaver.

Also the Brisbane Bullets have announced the singing of their second import Vic Law. The 6'7" SF played for the Orlando Magic & their G-League team the Lakeland Magic last season.

The SE Melbourne Phoenix have completed their roster with the signing of import Keifer Sykes. The 5'11" PG is already onto his third team this season having had brief stints in Turkey in September and in Greece in October.

In big news Melbourne United have announced the signing of Boomer Jock Landale to a 1 year deal completing their roster. The 6'11" F/C played in the EuroLeague and Lithuania last season.

Also the Perth Wildcats have announced the signing of Jarred Bairstow as a replacement for the injured Majok Majok. The 6'7" PF previously played with the Brisbane Bullets in 2016-17 as a development player and plays in the QBL.

NBL pre-season games resumed tonight with the Perth Wildcats beating the Hawks 91-83 in Perth. Top scorers for the Wildcats were Bryce Cotton with 25 and Clint Steindl with 14 and for the Hawks Justinian Jessup scored 24 and Tyler Harvey had 20 points.

A few more pre-season results tonight the Brisbane Bullets beat the SE Melbourne Phoenix 108-98 on the Gold Coast. Top scorers for the Bullets were Anthony Drmic with 21 and Harry Froling and Nathan Sobey each scored 20 points and for the Phoenix Mitch Creek scored 31, Kyle Adnam had 26 and Yani Wetzell scored 20 points.

Last night the Hawks beat the Perth Wildcats 82-74 in Perth. Top scorers for the Hawks were Tyler Harvey with 18 and Justinian Jessup and Justin Simon each with 14 and for the Wildcats John Mooney scored 19 and Clint Steindl had 13 points.

Also the NZ Breakers have completed their roster with the signing of Rasmus Bach to a 2 year deal. The 6'4" SG is a Danish international who grew up in Australia thus being signed as a local player and has been playing in Denmark.

A couple of pre-season games today firstly the Brisbane Bullets beat the SE Melbourne Phoenix 102-100 again on the Gold Coast. Top scorers for the Bullets were Harry Froling with 30 points and Nathan Sobey with 22 and for the Phoenix Mitch Creek scored 31, Kyle Adnam had 18 and Cameron Gliddon added 17 points.

In the other game the Sydney Kings beat the Hawks 98-89 behind closed doors in Sydney. Top scorers for the Kings were Shaun Bruce with 14 and Didi Louzada with 13 and for the Hawks Justinian Jessup scored 21 and Deng Deng had 16 points.

The NBL have announced a new in-season tournament the NBL Cup will be happening this season staring February 20 where all 9 teams will be based in a Melbourne hub playing in a 36 game tournament with total prize money of $300,000 up for grabs with a winner crowned at the end of the tournament.

The NBL Cup games will count towards regular season standings and once the tournament is over teams will move back to their home cities to continue the regular season, which begins January 10. All NBL Cup games will be broadcast live on SBS, ESPN and Sky Sport (NZ).

The NBL have announced that the NZ Breakers and SE Melbourne Phoenix will both be temporarily relocating to Tasmania on January 1 due to the coronavirus situation in Melbourne.

In a pre-season game tonight Melbourne United beat the Cairns Taipans 97-81 in Cairns. Top scorers for United were Chris Goulding with 17 points and Shea Ili with 15 and for the Taipans Mojave King scored 21 and Kouat Noi added 17 points.

The Sydney Kings have announced they've signed former Breakers big Tom Vodanovich as a temporary injury replacement for Xavier Cooks who is expected to be out for three months with an ankle injury. Vodanovich was league MVP of the NZ league during the off-season and had signed with a team in Luxembourg until their season was cut short due to Covid-19.

The NBL have announced a revised schedule for the first two rounds of the season with Friday January 15 the new start with a double-header Cairns vs Hawks followed by Perth vs Melbourne.

Opening Round:

Friday January 15
