Too late if you ask me. NSW seem to have no intention of taking the necessary steps to control spread.
As Marshall and Spurrier proved in SA back in late Nov you have to clamped down hard and early if you want to be able to return to the "new normal" as quickly as possible.
You have to allow for the **** factor who think this doesn't apply to them.
In reality, when you apply a Tukey Post Hoc test to determine the the significant multi variance factor determining the outcome to controlling these outbreaks, Successful management is in the hands of the general populace doing the right thing and being disciplined compared to the treatments put in place by government such as lock downs, contact tracing, testing and medical treatment)
What a load of crap, they jumped at shadows and was proven to be the incorrect approach.
Anyway NZ and Australai to be in lockdown by Jan 15th is what im hearing, time will tell if thats accurate or not.
Looking forward to all the stats coming out on the deaths around the world in the last year compared to other years, that should wake a few more sleepers.
Even some of you guys would have to admit now that there is something real fishy going on.
How is the vaccine going to work if we have a new superstrain? ill tyell you, it wont just the same as it hasnt worked for the flu for the last 70 years
Why is HCQ still banned when it is being used successfully in other parts of the world?

But no lets not use it let the elderly die until the magic bullet comes a long so big pharma once again can make BILLIONS.

Because we are being cautious and no vaccine has been given approval for use. There have been emergency use approval given but we aren’t in an emergency compared to many other nations. Only fair that those countries get first dibsQ. wrote:Where is our vaccine?
29 countries have begun administering vaccines and NZ has received its first shipments of a vaccine already. What's the hold-up for Aus?

How has NZ received a shipment then?
And vaccines have been approved - Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine has been approved for use in the UK, for instance.

OK, I must have heard wrong. I thought that the UK only got theirs because of emergency approval.Q. wrote:Jim05 wrote:Because we are being cautious and no vaccine has been given approval for use. Which is why you have to mandate behavioral changes, ie. mask wearing. "Pretty please" doesn't work.

NZ have secured enough doses to vaccinate their whole population and the Pacific islands, but I don't believe they have received anything yet. They don't expect to start until the middle of the year.
It's similar to Australia - we have secured millions of doses, and will start receiving them soon (and we'll also manufacture some of them in Australia). Look here for the details of what vaccines Australia has secured and their timelines:
https://www.health.gov.au/initiatives-a ... %20batches.
It's correct that the UK, US and other countries have approved vaccines for use already, but it still needs to go through Australian approval too before it can be used here. Other countries have rushed their approvals through because of their situation, but we don't need to whilst we have low case numbers, so we can go through a more standard approval process and watch what happens in other countries for the next few months.

None of those are studies from peer reviewed medical journals. The HCQ Recovery Study used a gold standard methodology and supersedes any of the work conducted prior including the Lancet study mentioned in the Guardian article.
