7 up with 3 seconds to go, you don’t go dunking.
Unwritten rule since forever.
Never understood why
Play to the final siren, if you're getting blown out, boo hoo
No different than in other sports when someone gets an easy score or stat at the end of a game
Normally its ok in Australian basketball and in europe, just the americans who dont like it.

I think it’s a respect thing.

I always piss myself when people in basketball talk about respect. You can run your mouth off the whole game but dare not make a basket when the game is 'over'.

Normally it would be considered a disrespect thing (not that I really agree with that) but in this circumstance the NBL Cup gives points not only for winning games but each quarter. The 36ers got 3 points for winning the last three quarters.
Jack White probably knew it was close so was making sure United got as close to winning the quarter as possible and Tony Crocker likely knew the same. So for me no issue with the attempted dunk or the attempted block it was unfortunate what happened to White's finger but my issue was with Crocker getting an unsportsman's like foul. I thought that was harsh.
Anyway the Sixers now play the Breakers tomorrow evening and they'll be missing both Lamar Patterson (injured) & Rob Loe (personal reasons, returned to NZ out for the season) their team is basically in complete disarray so we need to win that and get back above .500.

Agreed starting games like this no matter how bad your talent level is which is actually alright for the Sixers, is basically 100% on the coach.
They've either tuned him out or at least in the process of doing so.

The 36ers have announced the signing of Jack Purchase as a temporary injury replacement for Isaac Humphries who is out for 4-6 weeks with a foot injury. The 6'9" PF son of former Melbourne Tiger Nigel Purchase was a development player with Melbourne United last season.

Any forward/center that does not take advantage of his lack of ability in defence is either plain lazy or poorly coached. He has size. Full stop.
Crocker is yet another import who will not go past one year. How I long for the days of recruiting someone who is after a career (Green, Davis, etc) rather than someone who is already looking for their next team.
Humphries out will be very hard to cover and the recruiting of Purchase will be interesting. IF he is any good then keep him and send Pinder off to do his hair.
Not the first time either Cam Gliddon has been called for a ticky tack foul in an end of game situation guarding Bryce Cotton.
I wish the 36ers still had Kyle Adnam!
