Some bloke was at some shops at Salisbury North yesterday and hit his missus, another bystander intervened to help the woman and the bloke turned on him, the bloke and the woman he assaulted then jumped on his bike and fled the scene as emergency was called, the chopper had to come in and land on road due to the extent of the head injuries.

The arguments on FB surrounding the incident are concerning, do you involve yourself or ring 000 immediately? It's a tough one as you have a split second to make a decision and you know you're entering a volatile situation while you're adrenalin isn't pumping the same as his.

With all due respect to our northern neighbours and I say this with the upmost respect, I'd get involved if the blue was at Target at Fulham, I might if it was in the Port Mall, I'd call the cops if I was in the car park at Salisbury North and I trust you proud northerners don't take any disrespect from that.

I reckon it's hard one to know until you're in the situation bud .. I've had times where I've impulsively put my head on the line for others and paid a price for it, but I've also had times I didn't act in the moment and suffered the guilt and anxiety over it for a long time to come. Kinda damned if you do and damned if you don't if things go really pear shaped.

I think it's all to the police now, you simply don't know who you're getting involved with so you don't take the chance.

Much like my views on getting angry on the road now, you don't know if the bloke who cut you off is a full blown nutter with a filleting knife in his door or not so move on, life's too short.

In the instance of DV I call the police without hesitation. Discretely.

Hell no, I’m not getting involved, unless he was about to kill her, then I would grab a weapon and take him out.

There is no right or wrong unfortunately, I was on the bus once and a group of young lads were refused entry by the driver as they were pissed and didn't want to pay, the began attacking the driver so me and another bloke got up and ran to the front of the bus, we managed to knock the main culprit into the others behind him and then barreled him again forcing them to tenpin off the bus, we yelled at the bloodied driver to close the door and take off.

There were women and kids screaming, it all happened so quick, they chucked beer bottles at the bus as we drove off.

This was the 450 busm it ran from Smithfield Plains to Elizabeth passing through Elizabeth West and Elizabeth Fields who are both known as Davoren Park nowadays.

Shit like this was a pretty regular occurrence back in the day, the violence has gotten worse as they use more weapons now and in an instance like this one has to think the glass pipe has played a part.

Sitting in the Smithfield Footy Club playing 8 ball one Sunday with a couple of mates we heard screaming from the creek adjacent, we went running over there to find a young lady getting raped, we apprehended him while one ran back to ring to police and the other comforted her, it was very surreal and all seemed to happen in slow motion.

When the cops arrived they looked at the attacker and said "Did you fall over mate?" It settled us a bit as he copped it alright, it was very sickening, I don't handle women crying very well and I felt so helpless.

Despite only being small in stature I used to have no problems jumping in and defusing a situation even if it was at the threat of my own well-being. Growing up in the North I was in my fair share of blues both on the right end/wrong end for good and for bad.

For a multitude of reasons those days are long gone for me, 3 kids and a partner, decent job, im getting older and this generation is just nuts between carrying weapons, super human strength from being on ice or steroids no thanks. Ill happily call the police, ill happily provide any first aid required but sadly I have too much to lose these days.

p.s. if it was a kid getting hurt I think instinct would kick in and im all in then. After reading LM one in regards to rape it would also be near on impossible to not step in and stop.

There was an incident a few years back in Melb where a Bikie was on a bender and was assaulting his missus in broad daylight in a CBD street. Nearby stranger who happened to be a doctor tried to come to her aid but was shot and killed as a result. This bloke physically wouldn't have posed any threat to the bloke full of grog and gear, but that doesn't matter when dealing with people not in their right mind. Even over here there was that young lad a few years back, who's group of mates shared some cross words with a fellow teenager who again was on a bender, went home and somehow grabbed a gun and returned to kill one of the kids. Just senseless stuff and as WHUFC intimated, you don't wanna live with not helping someone, but your kids probably don't want to grow up without a father either.

My understanding as well from a friend who posted on facebook claiming to see it was that he had finished 'beating' his girlfriend and was about to get on his bike and leave.

The would be victim attended to the lady who had been beaten and this Danny bloke then come up from behind and coward punched the gentlemen looking to assist.

I remember that incident

IIRC he was made to hand himself by his “gang/crew” as the heat was too great from the public and police. He was given two options...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Roadworks in the outback on the Barrier Hwy basically between Mt Bryan and Mannahill.

A number of worksites and only one lane open, some sections 20km long with a speed limit of 25km/h.

Was interesting on the return trip yesterday that you are escorted though these sites by a pilot vehicle ensuring you go no faster than 25km/h

My beef is not all the section is being worked on in these areas so surely they can cut down the distance, 1st stop out of Mannahill was parked and waiting to be escorted through for 35 minutes, bloody ridiculous

Result a normal 5.5 hour trip turns into a 7 hour trip, got to head back to broken Hill next week, going to go the long way via the Sturt and Silver City Hwys, maybe longer but will be quicker
