Unless I misread it, this will change wicket to an out to simplify things but no mention of:

The pitch is also known as the wicket.

The pitch of the ball is the length on the wicket such as pitched up.

It also is the width on the wicket as in pitched outside leg stump

The stumps are also known as the wicket.

Stumped is a wicket.

I get that their is confusion around a lot of cricket terminology.

My Northern Irish partner used to always get confused if I had said I took 2 wickets she thought I meant I had bowled two people as she had always known the stumps as wickets.

BUT

Is changing wickets to outs all of a sudden going to turn her into a cricket lover......absolutely no chance, if she was interested in the sport she would deliberately try to understand the terminology more and appreciate the quirks of the game.

You call anything in curling anything you like but there is zero chance I am sitting down and watching it because I find it as boring as bat shit no matter what any of it is called.

In which case I assume you explained what wickets meant in this situation to her = end of confusion.

I'm sure we all were confused by that one at some point, perhaps as young children.

If folks in India or South Africa can learn cricket terminology in their second or third language, I think people new to cricket can, after receiving an explanation, master the concept of 'wickets'.

What an utterly condescending decision.

I once had an ex girlfriend come and watch one of my games and when I came off she asked how many points did I make.

She had great cans and no boundaries so these minor flaws were overlooked.

Other 'things' they might want to clarify.

Left arm chinaman (surely now racist) vs Right arm legspinner

In Victoria especially when a batsman is dismissed they asked him 'how did you go out'?

Why we score 2/345 vs 345/2 everywhere else in the world.

Seriously, they are nuances. They don't detract from us playing the game, just leave it alone (might have said that once or twice over the journey in the AFL thread).

No boundaries. Poor timing or just couldn't bat?
