Thank God that has never happened with footy in Australia.

Ummm how was the AFL created....what happened to the SANFL, WAFL, VFL.

Not to the level of what's happening in the soccer but I reckon Collingwood are having crack at it with their ownership of the black and white stripes.

Huh? The VFL was broke and they knew the only way to dig themselves out of it was to call in support from other states. It wasn't created by Collingwood, Carlton and Essendon leaving to make their own league with Port, Norwood, Sturt and co.

The principal remains the same, league/clubs poached/created other clubs to join a league that was going to make a certain element richer at the expense of all the other clubs in the land.

They did that to the VFA in 1896 when these breakaway clubs formed the VFL

Must be losing touch with his followers, it was a nice write up but I don't think anyone that's watched footy over the past 10 years would've thought otherwise.

Nathan Jones would be one of the first picked if you had to go in the trenches with a dozen blokes, I have to utmost respect for him, he epitomises the true Aussie battler and to finish up as a one club player (and that club being Melbourne), says a lot for the individual.

I watched the interview as well.
It does seem, the marriage breakdown, the off season trades and Ed leaving might have all become too much.
His body language at training the other day looked like a man with the world on his shoulders.
Just wondering if he's lost the playing group over the trade fiasco.
Unless there's a drastic turn around in form I think he'll resign at seasons end.
Scott Burns could be then in the hot seat.

See how we go in the next 3 weeks.
Bombers, gold coast then north.
Could be 4 and 4 potentially.

Bombers will be a tough game but if we don't beat GC and North he's done.

Would Harvey or Skipworth be up for taking the reigns for the interim? I know Sando has the experience but would you go down that path?

Its all pie in the sky ( pun intended).
All depends on the next months results.
Personally I'd like to see him finish off the year.
He's been a great servant of the club.

How old is he? We might be lining him up for a playing contract.

Hold off til end of season, then Jeff will be happy to let Clarko go and he can just shimmy over to Vic Park.

Clarkson to Collingwood would be like Malthouse going to Carlton. You can't polish a turd and a good way to end up being remembered for the wrong reason rather than the achievements.

Two things.....clarkson a lot younger than malthouse was and our list is a lot better than Carlton's when malthouse took over.

Not the same level of rivalry, final payday for Clarko at one of the best resourced clubs who's future doesn't look terrible. All guesswork, but could see it happening.

In 2012, when Carlton sacked Ratten for Malthouse they had Waite, Betts, Kreuzer, Gibbs, Simpson, Walker, Scotland and Judd. Fair core, they finished 11-11 in 2012.
