How good are brothers.

Ben McKay was asked if he'll play on his brother in round 19, he is response is bloody funny.

"I usually play into he best forward, so I'll probably get Levi"

Hahahha funny as, love it.

Despite what those who want to stay on the good side of the AFL say ($$), I don't reckon these new rules really increased scoring much at all.

Seems like over the last few weeks scoring has been back to what it was, plenty of teams on the weekend only had around 18-22 scoring shots, 5 a quarter, even the Power/Bulldogs game was high-scoring due to accurate goal-kicking (and of course St KIlda was on the other side of that).

A couple of thoughts on this.

A lot of us were probably guilty of getting a bit excited by higher scoring matches in the opening few rounds - forgetting that matches in March and April take place in weather conditions that are more favourable to higher scoring.

Secondly, I think the biggest factor in the lower scoring matches we've seen in recent years is the ridiculous number of coaching staff. Whatever rule charge they implement, there are literally hundreds of people across the league whose job it is to find a way around them. Naturally it'll take a few weeks to work it out.

It's easier somehow for coaches' influence to result in defensive games than open ones.

I'm not sure exactly what the solution is (other than limiting the number of coaching staff) but it doesn't surprise at all that in this day and age rule changes intended to result in higher scoring games are able to be countered by coaching tactics.

Mark Williams is the real coach, its no coincedence where they find themselves this year. I really dont think there is any doubt about this view.

What he said, I think the wheels will fall off in the home stretch, I don't mind being wrong though, I like what Melbourne are chucking out there for us to see and I don't mind Goodwin.

Reports that Cripps will sign a 4 year extension at Carlton. That's four more years of speculating whether he is fit or not.
