Sounds like an obvious progression then. I'd prefer to lease a car than buy it outright, as per the tax benefits we've pointed out. Does the company you work for have an agency they Novate through? That company would be best to source the car for you as they can get fleet discount. I saved 11k on my Monaro in 2002. Even though I wasn't buying a fleet of vehicles.

Find a vehicle you like, go to the novated company and ask them what they can source it for, then go to an accountant with those figures and ask if it's better to lease or buy outright.

Yes, there's plenty of people here that have them, I'm in no great rush so I can weigh my options up, tossing up between a 4WD ute, an RV or a coupé so I've got a fair bit of brainwork I have to do first anyway.

Thanks for your assistance, I wanted to get my head around a few things first before talking to anyone here.

Leasing pays when you can tax deduct car expenses.

Back in the day when I was paying over 50 cents in the dollar tax rates I had a system: lease a car but check around for the lowest interest rate, run it down to a low pay out level then pay it off and give it to the wife. Then trade her old one in for cash and re-lease a new car for myself at full price, thus avoiding being taxed on any profit made on the newly paid off car. There was often thus a tax free profit on the oldest vehicle.

It worked really well in the high income tax and high interest rate era. At one time when home loan rates were 18% I leased a Porsche 930 at 12% and used the cash from the wife's old car to reduce the home loan.

These days of course I can't tax deduct my cars because I'm not in private practice any more. Now I keep them till they die. My previous Audi S2 was 16 years old when it finally died, and it successor, my current 2014 Renault RS 265, only has 59 K on the clock and is likely good for another 7 years.

I set up my gas and electricity prior to moving opting for monthly bill cycles through AGL.

A few weeks in and I received a random sms from AGL stating that they were unable to connect my gas.

A couple of weeks ago I received my electricity bill but still haven't got a gas bill, do I rattle the cage?

I’ve contacted my agent with no reply yet. But any real estate people know if they are still doing routine inspections during this current restrictions

Put some money aside so if they ever work it out you can pay the 6 months worth of bills that might hit in one go, but other than that keep quiet and see how long you can get it for free.

(By the way, the maximum they can back-charge you for is 2 years, so after that, you can start spending the money you are putting aside).

I've managed to get away with 14 months of free phone and internet before, even after trying to do the right thing.

I had set up through a friend where he worked (a telstra shop), I spoke to him about 2 months in and he said "I finish up there this Friday but this shit happens all of the time, just play dumb".

In the end they sent a random modem out to me 14 months later and started billing me from then on.

Have you checked the agent's website? They usually do an update, you can pm their details if you like and I'll investigate.

Why does your nose only run when you're awake, and not asleep??

This was the question i pondered at 4:30 this morning when I suddenly woke up, and it was shortly after followed by my nose runny and need to blow.

Fell back asleep and nothing, wake up again later and same same.
