Don't know if it's been mentioned in here, but caught a bit of the news and they were saying two men from Vic were arrested and are locked up for sneaking into WA for the GF.

Two two lads spent 8 days in NT before travelling to WA.

Bloke on the news said something along the lines of "Hope these criminals feel the full force of the law for their heinous crimes."

I get that they did bad.. but **** me bit of a blow out to make them sound like they're bloody murderers or something.

Well, if they had spread the virus to some people unvaccinated or otherwise fragile they may have killed them...
That's at least something like "negligent homicide".

Pysber, who's responsibilty is it to report adverse effects from any vaccine to the TGA? Doctor or patient?

There is no legal standing for an employer to make anyone get vaccinated. It also makes a very good point, vaccination status means nothing as you can still catch and spread.
It talks about it not being the only option, the better option if it's really about health and safety and for employers to workplace safety compliance etc would be to have the rapid antigen testing which gives a result with in 15 minutes. This was made in Australia and has been widely used overseas, probably for close to a year now, but it still hasn't got TGA approval in Australia, now why would that be?

They have been approved for use by the TGA as a screening tool but they aren't as accurate as the PCR testing as tso consequently they can give false positives and false negatives. So they aren't considered accurate enough to be a diagnosis tool

Needs to be read in full. I am not saying that these comments are not part of the document. But they are just that, comments, not legally binding judgements. This case relates to a flu vaccine requirement.

Those not familiar with the workings of the FWC please note. The actual decision is "buried" in the middle (43?) of the document. Common sense dictates that all proceedings when decisions have been reached should have the decision at the end. Helps greatly with interpretation.

The decision was that her sacking for refusing to be vaccinated was upheld. She lost.

Well well well Norway has lifted all restrictions so people can carry on with their normal lives with only 67 % of the population vaccinated listen to the reason at the 1.00 minute mark and watch the celebrations.

Also coercion was not used to get the population vaccinated .

Also Singapore will be doing the same once extra hospital capacity is achieved.

Seems like some countries are starting to realise the methods used thus far are not working to contain this virus and we all have to learn to live with it.

I.e. there were 3 people on the Commission, and a majority (i.e. the other 2) disagreed with the dissenting judge.

The majority found that a vaccination direction was both lawful and reasonable, and the employee’s refusal to be vaccinated rendered her unable to perform her role safely (receptionist at aged care facility).

Of course, an employer can't make a person get vaccinated. But this decision confirms that this employer, at least, can make getting a flu vaccination a condition of employment (and terminate an employee if they refuse).
