This would have been one of his best moments I imagine -goaling from well inside the centre square at FP:

Seen this highlight a lot of the years (and back in the day) ... Goes through on the full, anyone care to guess the distance of that roost, 80m maybe?

Re: RIP
Some good judges including coach Haydn Bunton thought he was South's best player in their 1979 Preliminary Final win.

Re: RIP
1979 was a memorable year as a Centrals supporter, and then we crashed out of the finals, and I always will remember that South side and Paul Harradine. Completely forgot he went to the warriors, and that kick is just awesome.
Football Park oval 165m in length. If you assume the circle and pitch are exactly centre, distance from centre circle to goals is 82.5m. The pitch length in total is 22.56mm and if the pitch is exactly centre it will extend 11.28m past the centre. Popping crease 2.44m from pitch edge and say he kicked a further 1m prior to popping crease (11.28-2.44-1=7.84m.)
So from the position he kicked it to the goal is 82.5-7.84= 74.66m.
Distance between goal and boundary fence is 6m. It hit approx halfway between the goal line and fence, so we have at least a 77.66m kick.
I'm happy to stretch it to say he kicked it 2m prior to the popping crease and it hit 2/3rd of the way between the goal line, resulting in a 79.66m kick, round it up to 80m. Marker and Day got it right.
Condolences to the family and friends of Paul Harradine.

Just read that Brett Higgins passed away last month. Played in a 17s flag with him at Port, was one of the EP lads, he got drafted by the Crows that year but never made an AFL appearance. Played 56 League games with Port and Glenelg. RIP
Whoops, there goes another year. Whoops, there goes another pint of beer.

Anyone know what happened here?

Not sure and hate to speculate but the funeral notice could suggest something.

Bloody hell.

Robran, along with Bradman, are two people that I would've loved to see play their respective sports but alas, I was too young. The legacy however, continues.
Now involved in North via the junior program, his presence is ever felt. No doubt there will be solemn faces around Prospect this week. Very sad indeed.
Condolences to his family.
