Fantastic news and agreed this import duo should practically guarantee a return to the playoffs.

When was the last time we secured imports this early? Normally get them late and just grab whoever is available

Well having both played in the NBL last season the scouting side of things has already been done but it would've come down to money of course and Humphries who was supposedly on superstar money with us the past couple of seasons his contract has ended freeing up a lot of money.
A lot of teams these days work with the idea of securing an Aussie core first and then hopefully land gun imports on the cheap that fall through the cracks towards the end of the off-season, just like we tried to do last season. That model might work for some but hasn't been working for the Sixers so looks like we decided to flip it lock in known gun imports early and probably fill out the rest of the roster with available locals later.

Our scouting for the best part of a decade, Randle excluded, has been terrible

Probably but it's a difficult thing especially with limitations of a budget. The Kings, United's and even Wildcats of the world rarely need to concern themselves with it. The Taipans to be fair have it down to a fine art but it still rarely translates to success for them.
