Re: Port Adelaide 2022
Didn’t port power sign a contract when they came in to the comp saying that won’t wear the prison bars?

Re: Port Adelaide 2022
Port Adelaide may have, it's never truly been disclosed by any party though. Even if such an agreement was entered into 25 years on would there not be ground to revisit it?woodublieve12 wrote:Didn’t port power sign a contract when they came in to the comp saying that won’t wear the prison bars?
In 2006 the AFL, Collingwood and Port Adelaide agreed: (a) Port Adelaide could wear any of the historical jumpers in heritage-round matches in Adelaide, but not against Collingwood, and (b) Port Adelaide could wear black-and-white jumpers in heritage-themed rounds in Adelaide, but not against Collingwood.
In 2007 Heritage Rounds ( AFL declared ) ceased. It's almost, and play along here, as though Collingwood might have known this?
Port Adelaide have worn the guernsey 3 times since, the last AFL game at Football Park v Carlton, the 2014 Elimination Final over Richmond and the Showdown in 2020, post COVID. I find it hard to believe Collingwood has suffered economically, culturally or spiritually because of it.

obviously 100% no from Port, but if they did, would you make it the permanent jumper?
https://www.reddit.com/r/AFL/comments/w ... me_jumper/
No idea if it would be acceptable by both Collingwood and Port though.
I've always thought Port should have the teal underneath the prison bars (wharf pylons actually) to represent water & maybe some the number area in teal too. Then they're not black & white & Collingwood can get stuffed. St Kilda have black, white & red with no issues

So wear something you've never worn before to acknowledge your heritage? Great idea.

Re: Port Adelaide 2022
Everybody, including people who don't follow afl easily identify that the black and white vertical stripes represent ONE club.
The Collingwood Football Club.
The club is marketed internationally on the above.
Back in the sanfl days the Port Adelaide Football club fiercely protected its brand. Everybody knew who Port were.
There is absolutely no way you would've allowed anyone to come into the competition and wear black and white.
I personally have no idea why heritage round got canned, I loved it.
We are losing so much of the fabric of our game, some of it for the better, so I'd like to see clubs heritage celebrated every year.

On field? Not in any way.
Off field? I guess there is a chance a Collingwood supporter might search "Black and white guernsey" and end up on the Port Store site, find the guernsey, pick their size, add it to the cart, enter their email address, go to check out, enter credit card details and buy the guernsey then ignore the confirmation email from the Port Store. Or I guess they might go to the airport, fly to Adelaide, get an Uber to Alberton, go into the store, buy the guernsey, go back to the airport, fly back to Melbourne and go to a game wearing it. Egg on face or what!

Re: Port Adelaide 2022
The irony in all this is I feel you get more publicity for your club and more guernsey sales for the PBs having the yearly argument than if you were allowed to wear it.

Hey, Collingwood generate money that is distributed to the recipient clubs, why don't they make more money? Huh?!?!MW wrote:The irony in all this is I feel you get more publicity for your club and more guernsey sales for the PBs having the yearly argument than if you were allowed to wear it.
If we could acknowledge our heritage we could help raise revenue.
