Electric Shaver or Razor Blades?

Both give me a neck rash by Friday - although I can generally only shave every 2 days with the razor and daily with the electric. Electric is a much faster shave, so long as I regularly clean it and replace the foil/cutters - crap cutters mean it takes an age to shave and there's nothing like that pinch you get when a hole develops in the foil!

No shaving on weekends for me - it takes a very special occasion for this to change (my wedding was not one occasion that caused me to shave).

As with most things, you get what you pay for PR. Steer clear of the bottom end of the market. Anything $200.00 plus should give you good service...

I use a Braun, cost me about $220 5 or 6 years ago.

Make sure you get it serviced regularly though, the difference in the unit pre and post service is staggering.

Never shaved my noggin (funny shape, I'd look ridiculous! Plus all those scars from footy collisions...) so I can't help on that score.

I know that people in shops are salesmen, but try the folk in The Shaver Shop. They always seem keen to offer advice before considering how much it's worth to them. I had a $350 unit in my hand when he started talking to me, walked out with the $220 unit.

That raises another point- I bought a $100 electric shaver years ago, used it f**k all times (due to poor results), & found if you let it go for 2 days- Mission Impossible!
I take it the quality shavers- no problems?

Mine has no troubles, up to about 5 days. After that I need to use the beard trimmer function first - adds about 30 seconds to the job.

I use a razor and i find it quite comfortable electric ones and my skin don't mix

I only knew how to shave with an electric until I was about 24.
Tried a razor and haven't touched an electric since. IMHO to get a really close clean shave an electric takes longer.
Also found an electric was a lot worse for my skin in regard to pimples, etc.
Will never use an electric razor again, only fell like Ive had a real shave and not a chinese burn with a razor.

I wear a short beard and only trim around the edges. I use a Phillips electric with the floating heads because the straight foils give me gravel rash. My thick facial hair takes to long to soften for a blade - I have tried several times and given up. Then I am not exactly the patient type!

did that to a real hairy team mate once and you should have seen him scratch when his hair grew back

I vaguely remember reading somthing a long time ago connecting the tendency to ingrown hairs to a Vitamin B deficiency - I think it was B12, but it could have been B5 or B6.
