Strange decision by the powers to be to give 2 finals to Gumeracha. Why give a leg up to the club that contributes the least as a whole. Zero juniors and one of the worst ovals in the league.

Re: HFL Division 2 (Country)
Great weather for finals at Kangarilla yesterday and for the crowd at Gum Today.
Yesterday's finals.
Junior colts: Kersbrook continued its strong season under Bailey Wake and after the days events remain the only defeated team in the Hills Country Div. The kids mercy rule had to be applied.
Senior Colts: Controversy. Birdwood have played with its strong 15 players during the season and with the fair play rule, opposition club's have matched their 15 on the field during the season. Not for finals though as Kangarilla had 22 players available and had 18 on the ground which resulted in a player count, heated words, and Birdwoods first loss of the season.
B grade: Kersbrooks ageing superstars held on against Meadows. They looked bashed up in the last half and will enjoy the weeks rest.
A grade: Meadows jumped Gumeracha with a 5 goal to nil first term and held them from there. Brady Dawe was influential before hobbling off, Chad Dawe wound back the clock, and the Spencely bros took it up to the Hanna bros. Chad kicked 5, and was part of the Meadows dynasty 20 years ago with their 4peat in their last premiership success.

The big Windsor Dawe winding back the clock! Would have been a site to see. If they win, surely Meadows will consider a jump up?

Re: HFL Division 2 (Country)
Not too many surprises in the Prelim Finals.
Meadows get another shot in the Junior Colts. Birdwood fielded 17 at times in their Senior Colts Prelim win. Gumeracha B grade have made their first GF in 25 years??? Reckon it was 97. And in the A grade Gum had a training run against Maccy.
Glorious conditions forecast for this Saturdays Grand Final at arguably the best oval in the Hills @ Kersbrook
Juniors Colts: Kersbrook the only undefeated side in Hills Football in 2023 will prove tough opposition for Meadows
Senior Colts: Birdwood still filthy from 2 weeks ago, should take care of Kangarilla
B Grade: Kersbrooks superstars of yesteryear will enjoy the home ground advantage over neighbouring Gumeracha
A Grade: This should be the pick of the games for the day. Meadows got them in the Semi but tipping Gumeracha to reverse the result.

Maccesfield have to be happy with their year, been a long time since they have been competitve. Even a loss in the prelim suggests a good springboard for 2024. Their coach has done wonders over hauling the list and turning the club around.

Maccy have definitely improved but the rest of the comp getting worse has also made that change seem more dramatic. Bar 2 the competition is declining pretty quickly.

Re: HFL Division 2 (Country)
The standard might not be as high as 10-15 years ago, but it's been arguably far more competitive than Hills Central since that period. Gone are the days where the Top sides would beat up on the bottom teams by 30+ goals. Hills Central Div has had one club lose about 7 games in the last 7 years.Toto wrote:Maccy have definitely improved but the rest of the comp getting worse has also made that change seem more dramatic. Not much of a surprise there. Once these things get to the point of being voted on the wheels are already in motion.footy1992 wrote:Hot off the press.
Ironbank have voted to join the SFL in 2024.

Do you think Meadows will try and come up or do they stay as is and have a bye in D1? Or Echunga drop down?

Re: HFL Division 2 (Country)
Meadows are reinstating their colts so would think a little while off. Hearing Echunga happy where they are so with Ironbank gone, byes will be in both Hills Country and Central for 2024. Unless Bridgewater bring both Seniors and Juniors to Hills Country.Toto wrote:Do you think Meadows will try and come up or do they stay as is and have a bye in D1? Or Echunga drop down?
