They're at risk because they are putting like centre right (wets) candidates up against the Teals, not the Drys that are dominating SA Libs at the moment due to the infiltration of the Righteous Right from the Australian Conservative/Family First numpties

Always amuses me
The SA Labor Party have far more religious conservatives than the Liberals
Michael Atkinson stalled progressive legislation for years

There is only one action from David Granger that I’ve ever agreed with, and that was when he tipped a bucket of water onto Atkinson, an act that he unbelievably was charged with and convict of assault.

Surely the court had better things to do that day.

Granger arrived at the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court wearing thongs, rolled-up jeans, a duster jacket and a white antique potty on his head.

The once-feared Magpies player told reporters it was a combination he had previously worn during a protest at Parliament House.

“This item is known as a gazunder, it’s white enamel (and) commonly known to us common people, as pisspot,” he said.

In his witness statement, Mr Atkinson alleged the bucket was “three-quarters full” of water and “cascaded” over him after Granger threw it “in an underarm fashion”.

Interesting article but I'm always suspicious of vague claims attributed to "(p)olitical operatives who have seen polling from multiple sources".

When is Spiers back from holiday?
Tarzia - Not until the end of September.

September 3rd -

Former Liberal leader David Speirs arrived at Adelaide Airport on Tuesday morning, returning home from Scotland after attending a family wedding.

The Liberal Member for Black was sporting a casual hoody and backwards cap as he was approached by media just outside the airport carpark.

Mr Speirs told 7News he was disheartened to learn that he’d been relegated to a backbench role under Vincent Tarzia’s leadership, finding out about the demotion via media, rather than a direct conversation.

Spiers likening the Libs job to win in 2026 more like climbing Everest than it is Lofty. Attaboy, get that team motivated.

Most media outlets are being bombarded with emails from an unknown liberal insider dishing dirt on Tarzia.

You would have to presume it is one of the few who did not vote for him or a very close staffer.

After seeing him on last nights news it would be very difficult to see Spiers stand as a Liberal in the next election. I can see him becoming a minister, environment probably, in a Labor Government.

Tarzia will never understand the merits of keeping your friends close and your enemies closer.

I suspect they’re not at the bottom of the barrel yet.

Tarzia is battling to get people to work in his staff as anyone with a bit of smarts would know the job comes to an end in March 2026 at best.

David Speirs says SA Liberal takeover should be seriously considered | The Advertiser

Former opposition leader David Speirs says problems within the SA Liberals are “as bad if not worse” than the troubled NSW branch and a federal takeover should be seriously considered.

But the idea has been slammed by current leader Vincent Tarzia as “a laughable suggestion” and said the division is “very functional”.

Mr Speirs delivered another scathing assessment of the state of his party during an ABC Radio interview on Friday, declaring “clearly there are challenges” around how Mr Tarzia reached the position.

Asked whether the Liberal Party federal executive should take over the SA branch – as happened in NSW after the branch failed to nominate council candidates on time – Mr Speirs said “that’s a very good question and one that I had canvassed prior to resigning as leader”.

“I think the problem in South Australia is as bad if not worse,” he said.

“What I was seeing in the party’s executive and the administrative wing of the party ... by the state executive, were decisions being made that weren’t necessarily in the best interest of the party.

“And so, a federal intervention, putting the party into administration, appointing a group of perhaps elder states people who have served in senior roles within the party to actually make decisions that are in the best interest of the party and consequently South Australia. I have sympathy with that approach.”

Mr Speirs said he raised the idea of federal intervention with parliamentary colleagues and others because he felt the party was “stuck in a decision-making swamp”.

Asked whether the SA branch should be placed into federal administration, Mr Tarzia said “absolutely not”.

“We’ve got a very functional division here in South Australia,” he said.

“I don’t know where that suggestion has come from, I find that a laughable suggestion.”

SA Liberal Party state director Alexander Hyde declined to comment.

Functional division.

It's that functional division that sees the Libs always in opposition with themselves let alone an opposition to Labor
