Is their old man still involved down there too?

The SPOC Football Club are extremely excited to announce the signing of Jesse McKinnon for the 2025 season.
Jesse hails from the Victor Harbor Roos, having been captain for the last few years and is also a 2 time GSFL Mail Medalist, winning back to back medals in 2023 and 2024. Jesse also played league and reserves football for South Adelaide prior to making the move to the Roos. Jesse is an inside midfielder with a supreme work rate and great ability to find the ball.
Jesse will bring fantastic leadership and experience to the club, and we’re looking forward to seeing him in action in 2025. Please welcome Jesse and wife Winnie to the club! #rickrick

Chris Curran to VH. At least Gibbs brought something to the club

I guess given his record he’s up for heavy scrutiny.Jimmy_041 wrote:field of dreams wrote:Jimmy_041 wrote:

Not happy with Gibbs season?
Doesn't worry me
He was very ordinary in the 4 games I saw him play this year.
Curran, on the other hand, is a fantastic pick up - both as a player and a bloke

As he was supposed to play 5-6 games but played 13, kicked 24 goals while spending plenty of time through the midfield while getting mid-20s possessions…. I think he bought more than expected.
As for Curran, rumours are just rumours. Hope it comes true.

Mind you I dont put a lot of store in the BP votes as they are not generally accurate
5 goals against Pongy in May which was good. That leaves 5 goals against the top 4 in 6 games
He didn't get anywhere near 20 touches in the games I saw - admittedly against the better teams but that's when they needed him to stand up
He wasn't good against McLaren at Strath. I reckon he might have had 5 touches on the HFF. He then went on the ball and burned it numerous times in the final term. Fortunately for him, they still won or he may have been further in the spotlight
I watched the GF replay later on GF night (with one eye open) and wasn't specifically watching out for him so I dont know how he went.
Give me Curran any day. Reliable and dependable

Thanks for taking the time to back up your opinion with some info - too much unfounded BS is thrown around online.
I will do the same:
I don't believe the named best players too much either but I will say VHs are pretty accurate usually.
He played 6 games against the other top 4 sides, 4 of those during the minor round.
Only one of those 4 he didn't get mid-20s disposals - vs Creeks in Rd 17 where he played 3/4 and still had 18 disposals, 10 marks and kicked 2 goals.
In the other 3 he was very good and had plenty of it.
I'm sure he would admit his game in the 2nd semi wasn't up to his par.
You may not have noticed the strapped hammy and that he never got out of 3rd gear.... [emoji6]
That said he still spent time in the midfield in every quarter and had 16 disposals @ 75% for the game.
In the last Q he had 4 kicks. 2 scored points (one very gettable). One pass that hit the mark. Sure the left foot pass near the bar missed the target was poor by any standard. But burning it numerous times?
In 13 games he was still VHs highest scoring mid-forward. He ran through the midfield rotation every game he played and I know it is easy to miss possessions mids get.
On GF day the viewing was even more atrocious than it usually is at Pongy and I came away thinking he was ok. Yet he still had the 3rd highest disposals on the ground - only Heaslip (VH) and Wilkins (MY) had more.
Whilst all the pre-season hype was about Gibbs, those in the know said Heaslip would be the key in, and he was.

Agree on Heaslip
Maybe I'm being too harsh on Gibbs but, IMO, in the company he had, he should have been better
Strange that they put on the ball in the last quarter if he had a suspect hammy. I thought they did it to get him a feel of some leather on the day.
He burned it badly, at least, twice in the last quarter.
I was standing with some VH people who weren't that happy with him.
Almost like he doesn't try sometimes (someone else's comment on the day)
BTW, John Butcher racks up plenty of touches as well
