Re: SANFL 2025
No Watkins or Jezza, not a good advertisement for Port's development of "magpies" players.

I thought Watkins might be the best of the SA players. Obviously, the clubs didn't rate him, including Port.Dogs64 wrote:No Watkins or Jezza, not a good advertisement for Port's development of "magpies" players.

Re: SANFL 2025
Central should try to recruit Watkins, obviously Port don't rate him. Though with the extra $70k the sanfl gifted port/crows it makes it hard.goddy11 wrote:I thought Watkins might be the best of the SA players. Re: SANFL 2025
Dogs and Bays the two of the Top 5 hit hard. Dogs lose one this years very best mids whilst Bays lose two tall defenders.
Eagles and Sturt the winners tonight.
This whole process doesn't make it easy to enjoy being a fan of an SANFL Club.

Agree but sadly you just have to watch the players reaction to Mani being drafted to see where the SANFL sitsnortherner wrote:Dogs and Bays the two of the Top 5 hit hard. Dogs lose one this years very best mids whilst Bays lose two tall defenders.

Re: SANFL 2025
I think all are happy for the player. But a mid season draft is complete BS. The players should get a minimum 18 month contract. It also would have been more tolerable in the pre reserves teams environment. At least then they'd still potentially be playing for you (if drafted by port or crows), and at a minimum not for a team you're competing against.whufc wrote:Agree but sadly you just have to watch the players reaction to Mani being drafted to see where the SANFL sitsnortherner wrote:Dogs and Bays the two of the Top 5 hit hard. Ahh well, any delisted player this year or AFL hopeful come okay for us we’re happy for you to progress up or back to the next level.
Some will go, some will stay. Ossie was huge in last years GF.

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Which is fine, it’s natural they should aspire to play at the top level and get what, maybe an instant 1000% pay rise?whufc wrote:Agree but sadly you just have to watch the players reaction to Mani being drafted to see where the SANFL sitsnortherner wrote:Dogs and Bays the two of the Top 5 hit hard. But by the same token, the members contribute a significant amount of a clubs revenue, and if the product they are providing continually gets watered down and compromised at what point does that membership lose its lustre and value. What then?
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

Players can choose to have a minimum 18 month contract as part of their drafting conditionsDogs64 wrote:I think all are happy for the player. But a mid season draft is complete BS. And potentially reduce their attraction/convenience to some of the AFL clubs. I’ll assume that info won’t be made public or reported on.

Re: SANFL 2025
Have to be a record haul from the SANFL since the MSD came in?
It was brought in to fix immediate needs of AFL lists, now its just an opportunity to grab talent prior to the next draft.
SSP period was less than 100 days ago, none of these players were considered good enough for AFL lists then but are now?

He would be handy but as you mentioned, we wouldn't have the same cash to offer.Dogs64 wrote:Central should try to recruit Watkins, obviously Port don't rate him. Any chance we could recruit someone else.

Very disappointing. Essendon for example has no defenders due to injuries and they don’t even take one in the MSD instead preferring to bolster other areas as it’s basically a free hit where they can play them in the VFL and get a look at them for next year
