Looking over the C Grade results, are we reaching a point where C grade competition need a revisit?

A throwback to the old D9 North days almost.. have a promotion / relegation and not necessarily be aligned to the clubs your A/B plays?

Triple Headers are the norm, and a day against one club is much preferred I agree + lessens the burden on resources.. but some of these divisions are so lopsided it isn't funny. Not enjoyable for those winning easy every week, not enjoyable for those getting thrashed each week.

Sadly also, with no promotion / relegation, particularly in the lower end divisions it could take a long time to balance out.. like C6 for instance - Modbury off the back of a GF came to that div last year, won and undefeated flag and then remained in that div this year (but were joined by some equally strong clubs), which means clubs like Houghton or Ingle Farm or Para Hills which have genuinely improved and perhaps might've had a chance at finals this year have that squashed before the season even commences.

It's a strange tension in that the three home games on one day model seems to clearly be far more convenient for clubs, but in an ideal world the C Grade divisions would be as competitive as possible.

I would be very interested if the League ran as a thought experiment promotion/relegation in the C Grade to see how much havoc it would wreak on the triple headers.

That is, would it end up completely impossible, or could very clever fixturing find a way that only a handful of times a year that Club's in different A/B divisions C Grades couldn't be accommodated. I also wonder if having regard to womens footy inconvenience would be greater or would be mitigated given the number of clubs with a women's grade meaning that they're playing home games practically every weekend anyway.

My gut feel is it would be potentially too hard, and the AdFL not equipped enough to be able to massage the fixturing to allow promotion / relegation.

*edit* well maybe not too hard if each division was 10 teams or as close as, then grouped clubs in divisions by seeding.. it could be achieved i think, would have a few teething issues, but not impossible.

I agree, also the inconvenience of the away club who might be split across three venues to be factored in.

There's also the unspoken collorary of promotion/relegation for C Grade sides. If this is inherently a good thing, why not do it for B Grades as well? Then we could finally find out about 1R v D5
