It could have been completely club controlled, just put it on their web pages and have no question time. Easy.
And you dont think the talking heads would come after him for not doing it publicly?
Needed to be done the week of the incident regardless of how they did it and move on.
Also needed to accept the 5 weeks to avoid any potential GF circus should Crows lose tomorrow night and get through somehow.
He isn’t a “media person “, rarely does interviews or anything. I think a lot of indigenous lads are the same. I am not being disrespectful but many indigenous players are not good media performers and shun the media spotlight for that reason.
I would imagine on that Friday it hit him incredibly hard, as it should , that he has cost the club and himself the chance to win a premiership, let the club/players and supporters down. He probably wouldn’t have been able to front the media before taking some time to process it.
What’s done is done, he has apologized via the media and will do at the club today to his teammates at the AFLW group.

Sorry, you said they'd come for him for not doing it publicly, whilst he did it in public last night he took no questions so the club controlled that outcome.
I think we all agree they made a mistake not getting it over and done with.
I thought he handled himself well last night, I was impressed he did it without notes and eyeballed the media, he covered off on everything he needed to and it seemed genuine.

No matter how genuine, still comes across as a hostage video though … not an easy thing for anyone to do I’d imagine.
This was never going to be treated the same as the other homophoic cases.
- against Collingwood
- first real superstar to do it
- finals on the line
- Media landscape has changed even in the last 12 months
The boy has come along a long way. Well done on 300!
My funniest moments of his is when he watched CLG play, three quarter time his dog did an enormous crap on the oval and the game couldn’t get underway until he had picked it up.
