Even by GF standards, it should be a pretty amazing crowd

Do Birdwood have a long drought too, '94?
Hard to believe.

I’m tipping Kangy in an upset. They’ve been around the mark for a while now so you’d imagine they’re overawed with the occasion.

Predictions for tomorrow games:

UNDER 14s Meadows FC Vs Kersbrook FC -
Undefeated all year and home ground advantage should help the young bulldogs. Kersbrook had an impressive win last week : I'll pick the first upset of the day and go Kersbrook by a goal

UNDER 17s Kersbrook FC VS Echunga FC -
looking at the qualifying final its going to be hard to claw back 43 point loss for Echunga but sticking with my predictions of upsets: Echunga by a point

B GRADE Kangarilla FC VS Meadows FC -
Meadows have had a great finals run but I think this is the only game that's falls in favour of the favourite today: Close one but Kangarilla by 4 points

A GRADE Macclesfield FC VS Kangarilla FC -
Best two sides all year, Macclesfield have the talent and the week off on their side. Kangarilla have a great game plan and execute it well. Going to be a close one but I think Macclesfields have plenty of recruits with finals experience but just not enough and will fall just short on the big stage: Kangarilla by 23 points.

Don't think anyone saw that coming, least of all myself.
People don't understand why you'd let go of a coach when you've finished 3rd but it was a pretty average competition, outside of the top 2 sides,,in 2023 and sometimes you have to look at big picture - not just next year

Watched my first Hills Country A grade game today to see Maccy break a 45 year drought. Congrats to all involved a big week of partying ahead. Great turnout & the day was well run by Meadows. Pity it wasn’t a closer game but a good day regardless.
Was surprised how slick Maccy were they played a fast attacking brand of footy that was great to watch. Some impressive players looks like they have recruited well the last few years. Am I right in saying at least 90% of there players came from other clubs? Very clever recruiting to stay within the points allocation if so.
Mitzithras was a live wire up forward. Jolly kicked a freakish goal in the pocket infront of the Maccy crowd. Plus the two ruckman Daykin & Gibson were very mobile & skilful big men.

Hills Country aint great....but picking up B graders......you'd pay $50 a game tops......even in country division

If u play reserves amateurs....your no great player.....Mitzthiras is a B grader......$50 a game player...not a cent more
terrible when rank average b grade players.....can demand good money.....when their b graders at best

real average players.....tell country club there good.....so out comes the fat cheque book.....for real average players

Macclesfield........is a average......... team.......... so Mitzthiras will........look like a.......... gun.

He did fit in, don't worry

Congrats Maccy, obviously the best team all year.

I thought Kangy were going to do it, given their finals experience and the three close games during the year in which could have been differnt if not foor their poor goalkicking. Certainly didn't see a 20-goal win coming.

Thought Meadows did a pretty good job on Saturday hosting the GF. They got very lucky with the weather which made for a good turnout. No real surprises with the results.

Junior Colts: The young Brookers took it up to the highly fancied Meadows before they shifted gears in the second half. The Bulldogs complete the perfect season.

Senior Colts: Similar to the JC’s with Echunga taking it up the Brookers early before their class took over. Back to Back for Kersbrook’s Senior Colts group.

B Grade: Probably the best game of the day. In the 2021 Grand Final, Meadows B grade outgunned the fancied Kangarilla team and early on Saturday the final had a sense of déjà vu. Kangarilla’s B grade did the same thing against Maccy a couple of weeks prior and despite being dominated early fought back to take the lead and the win.

A grade: Don’t think anyone saw the scoreline coming. Everything Maccy did worked well and on the flipside whatever Kangy did failed despite their effort. Just one of those days. A long drought ended and Maccy’s recent recruiting has been rewarded. Happy for long term Maccy stalwarts Mike Elliot, Trevor and Joy Edwards.

Interesting to see what 2026 brings for the competition but it has a new top dog in Maccelsfield to chase down. Hope they can build on their junior program. Gumeracha have parted ways with their coach, Birdwood have just signed a new one and Meadows and Kersbrook are keeping their club legends in the Top job. Will be interesting to see if the talk of Bridgewater’s return proves correct as there are a heap of old Raiders scattered around HFL Clubs.
