$5m to play with outside the cap in the first two years ( max $3m in any year ).

You're looking at 6-8 players getting 650-830k up front to sign on and by then top end players will be well over $1.2-1.5m.

Few blokes looking at $2m+ in their first year.

Still f*cking freezing down there.

A lot left early, their core were the established players that went there, it would be an interesting analysis to see how much of their original squad stuck around.

Living in Sydney vs Tasmania as an 18-20 year old?

They've had more success that I had them penciled in for, they've won the same amount of premierships as us and Adelaide combined in their existence, you could add Freo and Gold Coast into the equation too.

They had a pretty good strategy about who they wanted to keep and who they could let go. Even losing players they wanted to keep resulted in them getting top line picks, so the cycle begins again.

Recently they've kept Green and Callaghan, among others, so they've built a culture that's working. retention isn't the issue for them, it's winning a flag.

Hoskin-Elliott 4

To name a few
Blokes in red were more than dispensible
Scully played two more years and was done
Treloar and Adams were viewed as inferior to Coniglio, Kelly & Toby, so became good bargaining chips
WHE played 13 games in his last two years and was also trade bait.
I reckon Cameron is the only one they wanted to hang onto
