A few factors at play here I would think, but she has been a star and I also enjoyed her on the Fox coverage.

I was actually surprised with her numbers, i thought they'd be a lot better than what they are.

Do you think being overlooked for the IPL play a part in this? I do.

I think a lot of Australians get overlooked in the IPL for reasons other than ability

She was awesome on Fox Cricket

Truly one of the greats to play Women’s Cricket.

@Carey, keeping and opening probably played a part but she made runs at vital times and games.

We'll leave Tests out as she's only played in 10...however :

ODI 3563 Ave 36 and SR 100 7 x 100's, 18 x 50's, 85 catches and 38 stumpings
T20I 3054 Ave 25 and SR 129 1 x 100, 17 x 50s, 65 catches and 63 stumpings
WBBL 3125 Ave 25 SR 133 5 x 100, 15 x 15, 60 catches and 45 stumpings

In short form she's averaging 25 + @ over a run a ball and nearly 10,000 runs.

I'd take that!

Could be a choice thing. Might not need to play for financial reasons due the husband in the same line of work

Having said that he hasn't played IPL recently as well.

Note that Ellyse Perry has been playing in New Zealand during their 20/20 competition. Given that she is also the same age as Alyssa don't be surprised if she does the same.

Interesting fact - she and her husband both have a high score in tests of 99. I would hazard a guess that they are the only such couple.

I agree with teh sentiment she has been an outstanding contributor to the Australian cricket

agree she's a huge step up on cricket commentary compared to Mel Jones

Not sure she nominated for the WIPL and given that she is retiring from all forms of cricket I doubt she'll do the NZ 20/20.

What she does in the short term is up her but I wouldnt be surprised if she and Mitch are contemplating how they can help an Australian team at a future world Cup in 20 odd years after 10 years of marriage.

Id suggest after her WBBL season she was told she wasn't getting picked for the T20 WC, that with a commentary offer from Fox which will set her up for years and the possibility of kids (hence retired from all cricket)

Been an interesting series Vs India so far with India taking the T20 win 2/1

Aussies fought back to win the first ODI, chasing over 250 tonight.

The mantle has swung which is good for womens cricket, Aussies not totally dominate any more

Have to agree, initially i was sceptical and critical of her but i think the last 2 years she has gone above and beyond.

One wonders if the media offers were just too tempting, she is a fantastic commentator as she showed dueing the recent mens series
