Re: Things that you rate!
Asked my bosses if I could adjust my work hours to work from home each morning then go to the gym before heading into the office and they gave it the thumbs up. Walking back to my office after that my youngest FaceTimes me out for his Friday lunch with his boss showing me that he whacked $50 in the pokies and won $9700.
Great day after a disastrous start.

Wrestling has more credibility than boxing these days
And it’s more ‘real’

Total Knee Replacement Surgery
Week 8
A few breakthru's this week and I'm feeling on the way 'up' (finally).
Sleep is getting better. Not brilliant, in fact Saturday night wasn't great at all as I woke up in a fair bit of pain (6 out of 10) twice. I did manage to get back to sleep quickly, which is 1 breakthru. However I have had three nights where I haven't woken in pain at all in the past week. I'm still getting broken sleep, but getting back to sleep is nearly instantaneous.
The second one was that I've been able to perform weight bearing activities on the knee. Single leg squats at home, and leg extensions at the gym. Now, the leg extensions are only 2.5kg x 1 rep but I wasn't able to do this at all for the previous 2 years since I hurt my knee. The single leg squats aren't a full squat, but I am bending the knee a bit.
The third one was that the physio has signed off on me having 'full flexibility'. That means, at 120 degrees bend and 0 degrees straightening (ie, flat) Before the op, I had about 120 degrees bend but couldn't get to 0 degrees.
The fourth one is that now when I'm in bed, lying flat on my back, the 0 degree doesn't hurt any longer.
I never thought after 2 months that this would be so hard but yet so rewarding.

Yeah, biggest win I've seen at a pub, not that I venture into the pokie room very often.

4:45 alarm, in the gym by 5am, pull* day before 2.5kms on the treadmill, 1km flat then 3 lots of 100m at 3°, 100m at 6°, 100m at 9° 200m flat at 5.5km/hr.
I've been going of an afternoon, back into the mornings when I'm at my best motivation wise.
*No pull puns allowed

Re: Things that you rate!
A bit has happened in the last week or so.
As previously mentioned, the missus has a hip replacement Monday last week, came home on Thursday and is doing really well.
Last Tuesday, on my way in to see her, I didn’t see a cyclist at an uncontrolled T-Junction (no give way, stop sign or lines) and hit her, knocking her off her bike. Called an ambulance straight away and they arrived in a couple of mins, luckily the cyclist was in a bit of shock but no other injuries. I only saw her at the last fraction of a second, slammed on the brakes and steered hard left, scraping the wheels hard on the curb (which was a really high
). Thankfully car took the hard hit and not the cyclist.
The cop who attended was great, he said I did everything right after not initially seeing the cyclist, including how I called the ambulance and stayed with the cyclist, and the way I manhandled the car away from her. He called me a couple of days later and said he’ll just issue a driving infringement instead of having to attend court.
So, I could have killed someone but luckily didn’t and they’re OK.
Also as previously mentioned, on Saturday, I noticed that the aircon controller wasn’t on, so thought that maybe a rodent had eaten through the comms cable from the indoor unit in the roof to the controller. Anyway, checked a few things on the day, but decided that it was out of my league and would call a tech to investigate.
On Sunday, I thought, faark it, I spent a few hours investigating and checking all power circuits and runs from the mains board to the outdoor unit and then to the indoor unit. Narrowed it down to the indoor unit PCB, so disconnected it and removed from the unit. Inspected and found a burnt solder joint where the power feed comes in. So ordered a new PCB, which arrived today, installed and plugged it in and now have a working aircon again.
Also on Sunday, after spending all those hours investigating the aircon issues, it was late and I had to swap wheels around on my car as the front left tyre had a large chuck taken out the sidewall from the accident, for an early Monday appt to get the damage assessed. After putting on the spare and rotating a couple of wheels, went to the nearest servo to check all tyre pressures. My missus had gone to bed whilst I was out so turned off the TV, etc. when I got back, I went turn the TV on, but nothing. Checked the power board and no life.
As I had a long day and the lights were on, it took me a little time to realise the circuit in the family room had tripped. So checked the meter board and confirmed that it had. Flicked it back on and after a few seconds, tripped again. Spent the next 30 mins going back and forth, unplugging one appliance at a time to determine the culprit.
Finally deduced that it was the main fridge. Plugged it into a different circuit and it tripped that one, so confirmed that the fridge was dead. At 20 years and no end of trouble, there was no way that I was going to try to fix it. Spend the next morning with the missus to agree on a replacement, then ordered it for a next day delivery.
Had to pull out the built-in overhead cupboards as the cavity height was too small for any decent size fridge. Seemingly when we built 34 years ago, fridges were different sizes back then.
Spent this morning emptying the fridge and freezer, and decided to rebuild the overhead cupboards by removing 80mm in height. Installed them literally minutes before the new fridge arrived and the old one taken away to be never seen again.
Phew, I’m rooted now … nothing else better faarking break!

Why did you get a driving infringement?
Are you always in the wrong car v bike?

Haven’t received it yet, will be something like driving without due care or similar because I didn’t stop at the intersection for the cyclist, instead unintentionally hit them. If there was no other traffic, then all good to continue without stopping.
Fair enough too.

A trip to court next Monday…
After just over 8 years we should (hopefully) become the official guardians of our two girls.
They have been Guardians of the Minister since they were removed from their biological mother and hopefully after a short court hearing, that guardianship will legally transfer to us.
The last 8 years have flown by and the girls have fit right in with our family. Our two boys were 13 and 14 when the girls arrived, so it was a massive adjustment for them as well…
Very proud of our little family.

Cyclists have right of way regardless of their duty of care?
Albeit, it would appear you are admitting some fault
