Star House is nice but expensive and serving sizes aren't huge, my FIL loves it though, we have been to Ky Chow next door a couple of times recently and its been much better

Re: Restaurant & Pub Reviews
Went to Henley Beach early Saturday to use one of the vouchers, place was packed by 11:30.
After trying to find somewhere for a while ended up at the Ramsgate which was relatively peaceful. We needed to be elsewhere later so didn’t have a huge amount of time to wait.
Prawns with herb and garlic 10/10. Wife loved them
My beef snitzel was ok, (I have a few dietary restrictions ATM), 6/10
Burger 8/10
Overall not too bad, just not the place we intended to be at.

Re: Restaurant & Pub Reviews
Yankalilla Hotel on Tuesday - $15 Schnitzel including the sauce
Mrs Wristy had Chicken with Creamy Garlic and I had Beef with Pepper. Great taste and outstanding value.
The other place we frequent on the Fleurieu that is my favourite place to eat is Forktree Brewery. The Seafood plate is simply superb. Steak Sandwiches are the best I have ever had. Overlooking the ocean just up from Carackalinga it’s an amazing spot.

Re: Restaurant & Pub Reviews
Sat Night at Penny Blue - 9/10 (pricey but worth it). Docked a point due to taking too long to bring mains out. Oysters came out around 8.15 and mains not until 9

Re: Restaurant & Pub Reviews
He is a good lad. Caught up with him and his Mrs at the Strikers (the lad must be hung like a horse as he certainly can pull a good one). I'm alright, coming out the other side of the health issues hopefully but its a long sooky road. Bit of an exodus at your beloved Bloods, I'm not sure they will win the flagBrodlach wrote:wristwatcher wrote:Did you have a Schnitzel and a Burger? Even though I'm Coaching at another Club i always want the Bays to do well. Great club. Have been meaning to head down and try the venue again to keep the chat on topic. Keen to catch up with Sandy and the great man Big Trevor.

Re: Restaurant & Pub Reviews
Billys (Vasili) Table - Elizabeth St, Croydon ( Also owns Vasili's Table at Henley Beach )
Quaint little restaurant in one of those quintessential Western suburbs row of shops, probably mid 1800's and full of character.
Mrs Boon started with Horta, boiled seasonal greens in lemon, garlic and olive oil and it was excellent, the beans still a little crunchy, the softer greens wilted nicely. 8/10
Me, like I was going to go past the marides, the fried white bait with a green yoghurt on the side, dill, lemon and lime in a greek yoghurt. Seriously 10/10.
Side of house made flat bread, made that day and warm and delicious to soak up the residue from the above. 9/10.
Mains we shared a lamb platter, 12-hr slow cooked lamb shoulder, lemon potatoes, tzatziki. Roast spuds, magnificent. The lamb, I think we may have been the first to order on the night and what we had served up was mostly burnt, not inedible burnt but over cooked, real shame as up until then everything had been amazing. 6/10.
She had 2 rose and an espresso martini to finish and I had 3 stubs of Mythos, which, is a very nice crisp euro lager that served icy cold with fried white bait can move your trousers.
Service was proper Nonna house hospitality, very good. 9/10
Value, all up $160 which given what a pub feed costs, good value I thought. 9/10
Ambiance, great little place, comfy chairs, only knock was the cutlery holder in the table was 1kg tomato tin, far too big for the table but other that than 8.5/10
Food, really disappointed the lamb was over done, what we did get that was right was sensational but near on half the platter was just over done. 6/10
Overall would absolutely recommend, we'll be back as I'm not letting a few slices of lamb turn me off when the rest of it was so good.
