Yeah, slate top, weighs a frigging tonne! All installed and levelled by the same mob, it hasn't moved since I got the keys from the builder.

Again, memory isn't the best, and the price could have possibly been around $2.5K, but I know he was about $500 cheaper than the mob that were at the Adelaide Show that year.

It's always priceless when I have friends over and they think they're alright at pool, only for my daughter to wipe the floor with them

Pub rules? We're moving from World Rules to International Rules this season and I'm not a fan. In the main there's no more two shots, in fact none, if there is a foul ( and some old fouls are no longer fouls ) it's "Ball in hand", yes, pick the white up and put it anywhere you like but you only get one shot.

If I pot my ball and then in that same movement of balls pot one of yours it's play on.

If I am snookered and I "Don't make a genuine attempt" to get out of the snooker it's loss of frame.

If your ball is covering a pocket and I use my ball to pot it there's no foul, it's just hand over to you.

As someone who grew up learning to play negative as much as I did positive I'm not a fan although I do like the fact the game is now built around attacking play and less negative meaning they move faster but the foundations of 8 ball have really shifted.

Apart from the ball fondling issues, I don’t enjoy playing on pub tables, just too small.

There used to be a couple of great places with full sized tables when I was much younger, The Parade had one massive hall upstairs, and I reckon another was in the city, maybe next to, above or part of Hughes and Loveday, but I could be hallucinating.

What are the new rules around potting the cue ball or opponent's ball along with the 8-ball? (I.e. when your 7 are already down.)

Also, all those new rules suck.

Key Aspects of Potting the White Ball:

"In-Off" Penalty: If the cue ball is potted (other than on a break), it is a foul, and the opponent gets the cue ball "in hand" behind the baulk line.

Break-Off Shot: If the cue ball goes "in-off" on a legal break ( legal break is 3 balls crossing an imaginary centre line from centre pocket to pocket OR 2 cross and 1 is potted OR 1 crosses and 2 get potted ) , the incoming player receives one visit, with the ball in hand behind the baulk line.

Opponent's Ball: If the cue ball hits your opponent's ball first, or goes in after hitting your own ball, it is a foul.

Eight-Ball Exception: Potting the white ball while also potting the eight-ball (black ball) is a loss of frame.

No "Two Visits": International rules do not use the "two shots" or "two visits" rule for standard fouls.

Yep, I'm a traditionalist, pub rules AKA the rules we grew up on.

As I've said on more than one occasion "My house, my table, my rules"

When my boys and I play, we also tend to whack the person for a deliberate snooker/lack of effort shot. Was a good idea at the time but now they're all bigger than me...
