Some of those par 3s into the breeze ive taken Driver.

With that review i will go down there soon.

The 7th scares me with the water cutting in on the right.

South Lakes Goolwa Saturday afternoon.

At 4:30 Saturday it was 41°, at 5:30 it was 21° so I popped over the road to the club house with a few clubs and asked how much for a few holes, go your hardest they said so played the 10th, 11th and 12th three times as the house we stay in is opposite the 11th tee and I could get another beer on my way round.

It's actually a pretty decent course.

Twilight last night (was still bite in the sun)

Played off 3.

4 Bogeys, 4 Over 17 Points.

No highlights to speak of. One of the bogeys was a missed putt from a foot, had a huge birdie putt lagged it up to a foot I would've been standing on a playing partners line, so I leant over on the front leg to 'Tap it in' pulled it left

Twilight tonight
Back 9 in cyclonic winds which i love.

Still cant work out how im playing off 4, im not that good.

The baffler got a decent run off most tees and was effective.
Greens, quickest they've been in months, but did run pure.

14 points.
Almost chipped in birdie on 11, 13 and 18. Lipped out 14...

Blackwood.

Windy day again.
Driver not as good. Teed it low all day but struggled with connection.
Greens. Wow. They are QUICK. But they are all the same. From recent experience they felt very similar to Royal Adelaide pace.

27pts.
Left a few out there. Overall happy enough.

A breakdown of yesterday, in classic me style…

I get to my mate’s place at 11am to head off to Mount Osmond. We arrive nice and early, enough time for a chip and putt to get ready for the day. At this stage, I notice there’s absolutely no one from the Liquor Industry Day, but the course and carpark are packed so surely this must be the place, right?

Head into the Pro Shop and… nope.
“No Liquor Industry Day here today, mate.” F@#k, F@#k, F@#k

I double-check the email.
It’s at Mount Compass.

After more several loud and creative swear words, I check Google Maps and realise we can just make the Mount Compass tee time with 8 minutes to spare. I call the course to let them know we’re on the way, and off we go.

Somehow we get a great run with traffic and arrive with 15 minutes to spare allowing us just enough time to get the clubs out, load the buggy, register, and head straight to the 6th tee (Shot Gun Start)

On to the golf. I was off 6, my mate off 2.
He starts Birdie, Par, Birdie—10 points after 3 holes.
I start Par, Par, Birdie—8 points. Who needs a warm-up, hey!

Then we both scrubbed the 9th (Index 18) Par 3  I was plugged in the bunker, and he was dead in a Yum Yum on the left.

Long story short: absolutely beautiful course in great condition, with some of the best greens I’ve ever played on. We started well, then the wind picked up and the beers started flowing. My mate finished on 34, and I scratched my way to 31 with three scrubs.

Two highlights for me:

15th – Longest Drive hole: Wind behind me, absolutely smoked it and went past the longest drive marker by 15–20 metres.

18th approach: I had a Nice drive it just leaked right and got very close to the OB near the driving range (which FYI is was too close to the fairway) Pulled out a 9-iron and stuck it to about 3 feet. Missed the birdie putt, but absolutely loved the 9-iron in.

All in all, chaos, great golf, and a cracking day no headache this morning, Bonus.

I've double checked, I'm definably at Mount Osmond Friday!
