Low and Slow is very good, pricey and you'll need a lay down after.

The Birk is a good option, safe as houses there. The British is back open and I've had two good meals there. The Lighthouse is a great venue ( particularly upstairs on the balcony ) but the food is basic. The Admiral is full gluten free if you have anyone with dietary requirements and pretty good.

Birk
British
Lighthouse
Admiral

Low and Slow excluded because I see this as a real treat not so much a go to.

Agree with all comments surrounding the L&S, if you go there though, tell them it's for someone's birthday.

I must admit that I thought it was a bit of a con with the way they presented the "all you can eat" slogan, they were right through, none of us had room left to eat any more, I couldn't believe that one of our group selected the corn as a side.

Thanks for the replies, I think we'll wander down and have a look at the British, Lighthouse and Admiral. We've been to the Birk before so will look at somewhere new (to us). Thanks again for the input.

I tried to stop laughing when I read the menu.

$32 for pasta, $30 for pizza, $68 for a 400g black angus, lamb rump $40 or set menu for $95 per person.

I can see what they've done by going with a point of difference to the standard pub fare ( bar the Admiral with the gluten free menu ) but I'm not sure the average Port punter is on the lookout for $68 steaks.

Couldn't get to the bar without bumping into at least one Kevin Foley.

Then straight to the British?

Ended up having to change my custody arrangements due to my inability to stop in there for two on the way home.
