FOURTH ESTATE wrote:95 I reckon. We were going to play a lot of night games that season, we played Elizabeth in round 1 under lights and they beat us so we didn't play any more that season.

95 was the year the NMFL joined the SAAFL our C & D Grade (Broadview) played in A5 North & A5 North Reserves against the former CDFA clubs.

We played Elizabeth Round 1 at their round and got smashed. They tried to charge us an entrance fee, and we told them to shove where the sun doesn't shine you aren't in the NMFL any more.

Grand Final that year at Salisbury

Smithfield knocked off Elizabeth who were undefeated all year in the A Grade and we knocked off North Pines in the GF after beating Elizabeth in the Second Semi and watched go out in straight sets the following week to North Pines.

Must’ve been 93 or 94 then, I was trying to work out what year it was based on who I went to town with later that night, was definitely NMFL and I was 18 or 19.

Yeah, Elizabeth always had their entrance manned, could enter from the netball gates though

Looks like the Smithfield President and VP have stepped down immediately and calling an emergency AGM for Thursday

Brahma Lodge slapped Ingle Farm in their trial game last Thursday - something like 12 goals to 0.

Trent Payne with 9.. kicked a couple of very good goals, and looking fit.

Brahma setup well behind the ball, good speed off the half back line, and a potent tall forward line. With one more inclusion to come to their forward 6 before Rd 1, they're going to be hard to match up on. Good ball use around the ground.

Challenge will come with bigger grounds - whether sides will be able to work around them easier - but on their ground, they'll score and score heavily.

In the B grade seemed a bit closer, didn't pay a lot of attention.. few bigger Lodge bodies, bit rougher/tougher than our kids are used to gave them the upper hand - would say they were prob 4-6 goals better without knowing the score? Bit scrappy skill wise both sides though. Kids at Ingle Farm lot to learn still.

Former Ingle Farmer Lucas Browning given his marching orders from the club last year didn't fail to live up to his usual standard - 2x yellow cards in 12min of game time and just wanted to fight anyone who would look at him.. sadly though, half the guys were U15 kids who had no idea who he was.

New lights at Brahma are much better than Smithfields.

Correct - well in the last 3 quarters when the second squad took to the ground.

Actually might've been 14 goals to none... From memory:
1st: 7 goals to 0
2nd: 2 goals to 0
3rd: 5 goals to 0

Had an interesting umpire moment though - in the 2nd period, got given a 25m penalty... umpire kept yelling at the Brahma player to move out the way as was trying to march the 25 - in the end, decided it was easier just to call play on.

Hackham run well, have some excellent top end speed.

Lonsdale struggling to defend the oval, but good in the contest.

Lots of lightning.
