i think it will be interesting to see how the top four end up in agrade, apart from meadows finishing top that is. id asume that aldgate would have a spot - having beaten bridgy (another contender for the 4). we had onkas the week cricket was rained off so that will make the bridgy -uri game this week very important. not sure if onkas - uris have already met?

i would be very suprised if scibs challenged for a spot, given they have played the cellar dwellers and have.....3 or 4? of the better sides in the comp to come and would presumably lose them all.

mylor into the a's needs to be done but i dont think they will be competetive, baskets won the flag their last yr in b's. (k.isgar is a bit past his best.)

HCA Exec Committee members who have "conflicts" in decisions (eg, permits, disciplinary hearings, disputed results) ALWAYS stand out of those discussions.

Perhaps those with doubts about the transparency of the inner-working of the HCA should nominate themselves for the Exec?

Possibly the only "tinkering" that goes on is around the allocation of umpires for finals games where generally the clubs with reps on the HCA committee are the last called on (although not always possible). The assumption here is that those clubs have already made a fair committment to the HCA for that season.

To be fair to Grotty - when Stirling were rubbish there weren't actually any A/2 clubs volunteering to make the move up. Meadows were pushed up a year earlier than they preferred remember.

Mylor isn't relying on Manos for batting in our A/2s btw. But personally I believe we are still a bowler short in that side to be really competitive in A-grade, and we need to work on our fielding too. Also some of the more senior players are considering making a move down to A/3s to play some one-day games as they are disappointed that there has not been the chance to play one-dayers in the A/2s for a couple of seasons.

So who knows...

However, given the fine is at the discretion of the HCA committee i'd be surprised if they actually got one...... how can you fine yourself?

I'm quite happy to fine the Ling at any possible chance. In my opinion, they should get one just for appointing Hamish as captain!

dont think mylor are anywhere near what theyd need to be to compete in the A Grade. whats the point of putting clubs up that are going to simply make our AGrade comp a joke. Baskets dominated their last yr in the 2's and made the bold move of going up, obviously without consulting the players, as their two best players from that yr decided not to play in the A's.

Mylor are doing the same , getting an outright against most teams this yr. but if you honestly think that warby or fleety would be taking wickets in the A's you deluded. their best chance was when both of the coopers were fit so they atleast had a couple of genuine sharp bowlers. but dont think anth. coop even bowls anymore. they certainly have some good batters in Fielke, Bawden, Steadman and Fleet but not sure theyd be as effective against better bowlers.

i think the dominance in recent yrs of the top two Bgrade sides is saying more about how weak the comp is. baskets should never had gone up, all it does is give lofty and stirling someone to MAYBE beat.

So GTS your saying Mylor would struggle against Lofty in the A's? We would thump them, just like we did in the preseason match with a few of our C grade players

Anth is still bowling sharp, too good for most B grade batsman, but I agree we need another strike bowler to be a genuine threat in A's.

But if we did field an A grade team, Im sure it would be alot easier to access a grant to upgrade our training facilities and help attract serious A grade players to the club :)

haha c'mon Dutchy, if i was doing that then i would suggest our C grade go to A's aswell after Loftys performance that day

Whats your opinion on what Mylor/HCA should do next year?

Also, Can anyone from Aldgate explain why Coatrack is still playing C's this season?

Aldgate's constitution states that there must be at least one David Tench look-a-like in the c's every season.....

I think Mylor should win a flag before they think of coming up!
they can mix it with the 2nd XI's but doubt they could with the 1st

It would be interesting to see if Mylor stayed up in the top flight if they had a tough first couple of seasons. I'm all for Mylor going up to A's, I'm positive they would be competitive. If that doesn't work out they could stick to getting naked and jumping all over eachother in Coopers pool. They seem to enjoy doing that!

Has anyone else had the privelage of taking on the SCIB C Grade this season? We played them on the weekend and some of their behaviour was disgraceful. Im all for a bit of chatter on the field, but when the sledges get personal, thats just not on. Also the fact that they were sitting there getting pissed and shouting absolute filth was discusting. We had a young kid playing in his first senior game and we had to re-assure him that not all sides are that discusting.

we played SCIB c's a few weeks ago. most of their guys were fine and seemed like good blokes, but two of them were terrible. some sides drink during lower grade games and personally i don't care what other clubs do provided they can keep it together during a game and actually play cricket. However, at least two of the scib c's clearly can't.

Also, when we played em it didn't help that we had a glenside escapee masquerading as an independent umpire. some of his decisions were baffling!!!

Yes to be fair it wasn't the whole team who were doing it, there were about 3 or 4 who were noticeable. Yeah we had that fat fool umpire a few weeks ago. Lets be honest, he has no idea at all. The guy was practicing his running between wickets when we lost the ball.
