If its the truth then perhaps they deserve it. Thats not so bad is it? I dont know the lady you guys are talking about, but she sounds like a gem. There is not enough people like that in footy! There is a few but not enough. Are they hard to come by because of todays society?

Well I dont know the lady either but the guy said she had been at the club for ages. AS its already stated by shiek earlier it seems to fit the bill as most people seem to be sharing the same story.

AS for rubbishing people on here, even if its true, its still poor form.

I would hate to see the demise of Ovingham FC- apart from my Dad & Uncles playing for them in the 60's-70's, they have done well to survive this long, in an era where tiny clubs like this get swallowed up.
The suburb of Ovingham itself is one of the tiniest suburbs in Adelaide, & I would hate to see the end of this club- I really hope they can survive.

Best of luck Ovie's

All of you people must be getting your info from the same person.Seems like a pretty biased point of view.As coach of the 2004 Ovingham Premiership team I can assure you that for all the good Heather has done the club has'nt taken a single step forward in 10 years. All of that is about to change suckers.Back to back Premiership Coach Chris Newman will bring much more than a bunch of parasites. Here comes another premiership for the Cats and if Heather cant swallow her pride and be a part of it then more fool her. It's the Ovingham Football Club, not the Heather Sandford Football Club.

chris newman never stays at a club more than 1 year.(why is that) he will bring in a team and in twelve months time he will go and so will his band of merry men. a bandaid fix is not what is required here, some stability which will see the club around for another fifty years is what is needed

From what i have been told is this Newman character has pinched the bgrade guernseys from last year at wingfield and has kept the Bgrade premiership flag and what ever else goes with it. Good bloke to stick up for beeroclock.

You have to be kidding. I don't know Heather but I can tell you that your club would have gone down the drain years ago without people like her keeping the place together. She didn't coach any of your teams did she? Is she responsible for all the games you've lost?
You won't be around in '09, sorry.

I'm not saying it was hard to coach div 10 south, nor am I the reason the club was in that division. That is the fault of the comittee who failed to recruit players or provide an environment that new players would want to be a part of.What would the SAAFL be if clubs didnt strive to win premierships and play in higher grades. My goal was to take the club to Div 7 with two teams in 2005 after going undefeated, but changes had to be made and the comittee were scared of change. When I took over as coach after no one else wanted the job,the club had $400 in the bank.At the end of 2004 it had $10,000.This was because we were winning and people wanted to be around the club.If Chris Newman can offer the same thing then surely the comittee is right to support him.As for the person who said they only had five on the track on a thursday night, you might want to get your facts right.Training at present is on Mondays and Wedensdays as players still have cricket commitments. What a shame the club has'nt moved forward since 2004,but good things will happen this year and it would be great if a wonderful club person like Heather was there to be a part of it.
Long live the Cats.

Calling US suckers..........you were coach of an A grade side that played div 9000 against c and d grade opponents. I wouldn't bag you if you were a real club person but a real club person would not go onto a forum and bag other volunteers of their footy club. Judging by that pathetic post YOU are to blame for the club going no where.Have fun winning idiot, come back here and boast about it's c6 premiership in September.

we went undefeated in 04 and i got sacked coz the club wanted to stay in the lower grades and i wanted to go div 7&7r in 05 so they got rid of me and when i left alot of players left with me,but from what ive heard alot of former players and new recruits are coming out again thanks to chris and the new committee
