if he has a registered address with the post code of that town then by federal law he is classed as a resident of that township. If the saints were to supply documents to the league indicating that he lives local and has not moved for the sake of football or just created a dummy address to try be listed as local points player then that would make their argument alot stonger you would have to think.

If that's the case then it opens up a fair can of worms.. somewhere like Langhorne Creek or Myponga that has a very small population will be disadvantaged as opposed to bigger towns like Victor Harbor etc.
Every club had the opportunity to have their say about the points system for 3 or 4 months prior to its inception so nobody can really complain.
I must admit though, I thought I had a pretty good handle on how it works and I didn't know that this exeption to the rule existed.

Any footy club could organise a "room" living where another team mate is as the new players place of residence, so realistically there is no way of policing this, therefore the rules need to be upheld. Any new players that fall in this category will still count as 3 points.

Shouldn't have a system that consistently will need a tribunal. Like Limb said every club had the chance to vote the system in or out and Saints were one that voted for it to be in. So now a player they have recruited will have to go or play colts on the bench worth zero points. Most players and coaches are against the rule, yet administrators did not listen and it is now in with the can of worms it brings. Great Southern is a great competition, arguably the best outside SANFL and A1 amateurs and they bring in change. Unbelievable!!!! Clubs who voted for it, with the exception of Willunga and Victor Harbor should cop it sweet and not grizzle about it for the season, as they are the reason it is in.

Could be investigator college FM and I dont know his name. It wont bother the Saints too much, we have recruited well under the new system,.I was just posing the question, because in country towns with the likes ofpolice, teachers, doctors, this will occur from time to time. the player concerned in this case LF i would think if he has bought a house in the town and teaches in the town as you say,i would think the SANFL would not be very happy with the so called independent tribuneral that the GSFL calls fair with most of them past members of Enc Bay. would be a case for a higher court than the Great GSFL could handle if pushed

I don't really see the issue here. Surely you'd welcome the bloke with open arms?! There will always be injuries during the year and so what if a recruit gets dropped to the B's? You can still pay him (if he's worth it) he just has to lift his game if he wants to play A's. Think of it as an insurance policy against nuff nuffs who just roll in to take some easy cash. It's really a fantastic position for the Saints to be in. It forces the recruits to perform which hasn't happened for the Saints in years gone by.

I was actually down at Goolwa last night and caught up with Ryan, could it be the case that he is home sick and wanting to play with the brothers, or maybe something else could be bothering him? Pretty strange that he has his first game back since major surgery on sat night and he is out tranning with the saints not in Melbourne or Darwin with the rest of his team!

Totally agree with ya Limb. The point system already favours the bigger towns.However LF, i also agree that if someone moves into the town they should be a 1 point player. Get rid of the PS in 09, it will ruin the GSFL
