9 2 day games in A grade is simply not good enough for a so called leading country association.1 rained out match against an easy side can cost you a place in the finals.
It also is hard to blood any youngsters as every point is vital. Two years ago we lost two games and didnt make the finals.(in A1's)
Baskets are doing nothing for the A grade comp, except for playing on that oval which we all love.
If H.V. go to Southern then 8 sides with 7 one day and 7 two day must be a priority. If we have to play a couple of Sundays then so be it.Obviously teams will have players unavailable on those days but what a good opportunity to blood a few younger lads. Also your meyer shield pont FA is very valid.

Hey Cougar, Kersbrook should have it pretty easy this weekend over Woodside - heard a couple of their batsmen aren't playin (work commitments, sickness)...

Should be a walk in the park over the perennial chokers

Mylor narrowly missing finals in both A3 and A4 - Huge boo to that.

Still, if you'd given us 5th place in both grades at the start of the season we'd have taken that. A pretty satisfactory season and some great wins - and who can forget THAT record! Also have picked up some very handy lower grade players, and what's more they're all top blokes and fit in superbly with the spirit of the club.

And another easy win for the Piper A/2s today.

Surely this year...

btw - my tips for the A/4 finals are:

Onkas to beat Easterns in an "upset" - assuming the Mays, Tanners, Mossop, Plummer et al front up for the Browns

Lofty to destroy SCIB

GF: ??? Anyone's guess.

Gators by a mile in the A/3s.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Same result though.

Presumably that was demon cabbage and not basket cabbage. Actually we played Uri D's last week and there's a fair bit of potential in that bowling line up.

Yeah, your bowling is good enough, but still not convinced by the batting. Still both streets ahead of Happy in my opinion and Clarrie really are just making up the numbers and can't rely on postage stamp sized ovals to rack up big scores in finals.

TVCA finals:

A grade:

Kersbrook knocked over Woodside fairly comfortably.
Lobethal passed Cambrai's score with 4 or 5 wickets in hand.

So the best two sides of 07/08 play off in what should be a high scoring game at Woodside. Can Lobey make it 5 in a row?

A2s:

Kersbrook chase down woodside's 215 with 3 or 4 wickets in hand I beleive.
Paracombe chase down Lenswood's 200 with just 2 wickets in hand :( :(

So the two in-form teams have been knocked out setting up an interesting game. It pains me to say it, but Kersbrook should win.

Bit harsh on Woodside......most betting men, would have had a Lobethal v Kersbrook GF picked out early in the season.

A1

Meadows v Onka @ Meadows (Crocker / Aston)
Aldgate vs Uraidla @ Balhannah (Axford / Thomas)

A2

Mylor v Bridgewater @ Basket Range (Weekley / Steven)
Aldgate vs Eastern Ranges @ Uraidla (Williams / Newbery)

A3

Aldgate v Clarendon @ Happy Valley (Mt Lofty umpires)
SCIB v Happy Valley @ Mylor (Cranwell / Pritchard)

A4

Eastern Ranges vs Onkas @ Bridgewater (Bridgewater umpires)
Happy Valley vs Mt Lofty @ Ironbank (Basket Range umpires)

Hmmm Stirling no representation in the finals and still dont get to Umpire or host a game, yet Bridgey and Lofty have teams in the finals and are asked to umpire a final as well :?

Not sure Clarries would be too happy with Lofty umpiring them 8)

Boo to Grotty for assuming our Ds didn't get enough points to claim 4th before announcing these. We didn't. But boo anyway.
