Uni have always been front runners and when the chips are sometimes they dont come through. Its just not in them.
But this is apparently a different team so that shouldnt be a problem and maybe they need time to gel.

will take time as there were 9 new guys playing. 10 points down to edwardstown is not the worst thing to happen, not the ideal start but it is only round 1.
certainly, nobody at the club expected this year to be easy and that ridiculous 'quote' in sportsbeat about being strong in div 1 let alone div 2 came from the journalist not roach as he hadn't ever spoken to anybody from sportsbeat.

No worries the way they worded it as a quote. Your club should have a word to them about that. Poor form from sportsbeat.

Our coach was also quoted, and he never spoke to Sportsbeat either, and they got his name wrong to boot...

They are hopeless at the moment down at the sportsbeat. Surely a few phonecalls to get some facts like the messenger did would be basic research?

Surely there are some legal ramifications about doing that.

especially since the saafl advertised for a sportsbeat writer prior to the season beginning.
club was more worried about the perceived arrogance - and uni certainly doesn't need any more reasons to be (incorrectly) perceived as arrogant

SMOSH suprised me. they played well for just over a half and put alot of pressure on the hawks. modbury just had to much run and used the ball much better. vassal and gunning led the way and modbiry experimented with garfoot on the wing for the whole game... didnt like the move personally as they missed his 15 marks up forward and they lost a few contests across half forwrd. still 3 of the best 18 to come back in the next few weeks for the hawks. I think SMOSH will be mid table and def will stay up

Thought it was a good game umpiring was average all day. Modbury were a very well drilled side. Interesting to see Kyle reeves on the half back line. They have a very solid midfield. Also interesting to see they got a touch up in the b grade, so the only question mark will be depth. smosh is a very young side and will push a lot of sides.
We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

Yeah trying a few new things early as i said before with garfoot on the wing but i thought kyle played ok back there gave some touch coming off half back. and yes umpiring was terrible similar to the showdown there was some interstingn/confusing decisions paid

yeah b grade was average had a few pull out before the game and some un available. no excuses though they werent in the game and SMOSH ran very very hard and had good skills but had little rpessure put on them. Depth at modbury this year is much stronger than last year so i dont see it as being a prob.

good game of footy at Camden between phos and shocs. Shoc led at every break but phos kicked last 2 goals to win. Phos look well drilled under Weed. Their ruckman and Stephens played a blinder, Juniper good focal point up fwd for shocs with Tasborski out. Phos will be around the mark this year.

well lets hope he is fit for round 3 against smosh. As in the past he has had some great games standing Kluzek. Think it would be great to watch.

If Vassell Doesn't win the div 2 medal the umpires have been bribed.

Tore us apart all day and incredibly hard to lay a tackle on.

I thought we were on top the first half but didn't put it on the scoreboard due to some poor kicking and the hawks didn't give us much of a sniff after kicking 3 or 4 un-answered goals late in the third.

Dissapointing but plenty fo improvement to come from the Lions.

Keen as for Uni this week.

Yes she can

Travis White was one of the Raggies more dominant players in the first half, his kicking though, probably let him down a bit as the game progressed. I think Gordon kicked a goal or two as well. Kevin Hopper killed us, I think he literally had about 9 or 10 touches just in the first quarter!

They just got a good start early and even thought the difference at half time was 4 or 5 goals, it didn't really reflect the Raggies effort, they just seemed to run the ball so much better than we did.

We still had a 5 or 6 goal deficit at 3/4 time and in true PNU style kicked a barrage of goals in the last but couldn't quite get there to pinch it like we have in previous meetings.

Too may costly turn arounds from experienced PNU players early in the game, didn't help that we lost Louis and Kane too. Tex couldn't find it. Burrows had a solid game but didn't shine. This new Swaine Ackland or whatever his name is... SHEEESH CAN THAT KID PLAY! Let's put it this way, he makes Louis look slow  Was our best player by a long shot, along with Red Dog I reckon.

Maybe Blublurag can answer this question, but I really don't know why Joey Duigan still plays football, it might just be me, but he looks so dis-interested. Once upon a time he was the bloke to keep quiet..
That was the game in a nutshell, great game and the best team on the day won, as we all predicted they would.

agreed he is hard at the ball and brings the likes of gunning and harrision (injured) into the game. very valuable to the hawks this year. Also free's jolly up to occasionally float through the guts

SMOSH did have a lot of chances in the first half as modbury broke down across half forward with garfoot on the wing and vandeveld injured. i think modbury might have edwardstown this week so that should be a big test. even though will still be missing 3-4 blokes.
