Does anyone know what Mylor are intending to do this coming season? Will they have a crack in A Grade?

I rekon Mylor need firstly a couple of extra quicks before they move up to A's cos there is no way that the two cooper boys can shoulder all the bowling duties and the likes of warby and the other blokes they have a bit of a bowl would get smashed.

There batting line up wouldnt do too badly with Steadman, fleet and gaunt those guys would slot into most A grade teams reasonably comfortably maybe with the exeption of Meadows, onkas and aldgate

Probably need one more quick. Steadman gets wickets as every ball is on the stumps. Bawden and Fleet are steady enough as support.

Warby working on his tweakers as we speak...

Yes, they were the Top 3 run-getters in the A/2s last summer... 1412 runs between them in the minor round - 53% of the team's runs...

Fielke goes OK too - he was 9th. Our next best? Was Warby!

That would suggest we'd need another batsmen too, or more consistent contributions from AJ Cooper and Bawden. Although Keeley's efforts in the finals show he might be up to it...

If mylor could pick up a quality A grade alrounder i seriously think they would not do that bad in A grade. they would beat Mt lofty, stirling etc. I rekon you would see some Huge totals made on mylor oval by some of the better teams like Meadows, aldgate etc especially considering they bring the boundry in!!! i rekon Reid, Hunter and kemp would flog some huge tons there.

Hi Guys, got some goss about happenings in HCA this year.

Baskets will be dropping out of the A Grade this season bringing the bye back for A Grade.

There is possibly going to be a fifth grade introduced for the 2008/09 season. Two clubs at least have forwarded the suggestion to the HCA Committee in the past 2 seasons, sounds like it will be on for this year if agreed to by other clubs. It would be an A5s comp playing 1 day games. Should help to even the competition in A3s and A4s.

And thankfully Aldgate Pump Hotel will not be part of the mix this year. Sounds like they are dead and burried.

Where would the 5th grade play? They might have to play sundays?

To even the comp, A2s really need to play one dayers to attract players. Alot of A3 teams last season would thump some of the A2s.

A5s wouldn't require any more ovals. Would be the sme number of teams, just spread across more grades.

Agee 100% on you second comment. My own opinion is that the top two grades should be limited to 8 teams, but that would take some of the "big name" clubs perhaps realising that they just aren't cutting it at the top level at the minute...

To reduce the number of teams in the lower grades. With a 12 team comp like we've had in the past, if you lose a few games early you are basically shot for finals, and it is sometimes difficult to keep players coming back week after week if that is the case....

Would have been a crack at your lot too 12 months ago, but you weren't as completely sh!t last season as many predicted.

;-)

And at least you guys have some youngsters...

Heard Kersbrook in the box seat to be pickin up a couple of Southpaws from rival A grade TVCA team thru a footy connection...
No clearances sighted yet (still a long time to go before the start of the season) but word has it the batting line up will increase in size
Will it be enough to unseat the Tigers from 6 in a row though - only time will tell!

There's still a rumour floating around about a 20/20 game to be incorporated into minor round - Any other news?

Big Nick 'Slim' Johns would a very hand addition to an already strong Kersbrook Batting Line Up. The Big Fella has a good following at Kersbrook and has a strong rapport with the Cavaliers. Also looking to pick up possibly the Hughes Connection (Kersbrook Footballers) who previously all played together at Central United. The only possible losses could be Andrew Wehrman and Jarrad Farrugia who are looking for a year off and Ash MacDonald could be doubtful after fathering twin boys in the off season. Betting man would be looking again at a Lobey v Kersbrook GF in 2009!
