Thats the rumour - but heard it last year also and he still lined up for the Warriors... I know he's pretty good mates with the Cavaliers and he does line up for the Brookers during footy season, so time will tell. It would certainly strengthen an already solid line up - imagine this

A MacDonald
P James
A Wehrman
B James
N Johns
P Collyer
R James
K McClelland
B Pearce
A Groverman
K Kennedy

The other lefty's still a mystery though, could be one of a few that Woodside have - Wescombe, Johnston or Smith. Maybe they're just tired of losing semi finals and wanna play in the GF

Cougar - What does the Hughes Connection entail? Sounds ominous... :? and whats with Wehrman and Faruggia "looking for a year off"? Huh... Faruggia only went to Kersbrook last year - was his first season in TVCA that tough? Can't imagine that.

As for MacDonald - lots of players have new families (twins is more uncommon of course) but what better way to bring up two boys than to get em into cricket from the earliest opportunity. Surely he'll be taking the family to mildura whilst organising the annual Willowfest team again.

I understand that the Cavaliers are attempting to convince a Northern Districts A grade premiership batsmen to leave grade cricket and replace Ash Mac at the top of the batting order or is Ash jumping before he is pushed?

Just on that, it must be time to create seperate forums for HCA and TVCA.

Do many people follow all 3 associations?

Hahndorf still looking strong (Hassold, Baker, Pfitzner etc.) and will be actively looking to recruit a couple of young guns to booster their lineup!! After speaking to a couple of lads i believe these players have been identified and they are very handy players!!

"oldblueeyes: I understand that the Cavaliers are attempting to convince a Northern Districts A grade premiership batsmen to leave grade cricket and replace Ash Mac at the top of the batting order or is Ash jumping before he is pushed?"

Are we talking about L. Hall here? Would be a more than handy pick up for the Cavs to further strengthen an already strong batting line up.
Have heard Ash Mac will stand aside as captain but continue to play. Also will Justin Squiers return to the team after his year off due to knee surgery? Seemingly the only weakness with Kersbrook being a lack of a fast bowling department. (and a phobia playing against Lobethal in March  )

Other news -
Woodside have regained the services of former A Grade Premiership Bowler - Stewart Kenny, who is returning to the Warriors after playing with Scarborough in WA for the last 5 or so seasons.

Palmer looking a bit shaky as to their A Grade side. Hopefully it can be sorted out soon or Association reps Tyson Rathjen, Craig Paech and Danny Walker may be left looking for another side.

Haven't heard much from Birdwood since the end of the season but surely they'll continue to stand up and field an A grade side after blooding alot of youngsters last season.

Loby have stayed fairly quiet as to player movements so just have to assume no major changes have been made - and why would there have to be any? 5 flags in a row says it all!!!

Have not heard anything to do with either Paracombe, Gumeracha or Cambrai

Lenswood always seem to be around the mark in the A2's - maybe they could make a statement and stand up and field an A GRADE side...?

Interesting Posts on the TV for season 2008/09. Would think the Big Ship is on the money.

Kersbrook Cavaliers will hopefully regain J.Squiers from a Knee Reconstrution, while the possable recruitment of Northern Districts Batsman L.Hall would bolster what already is a strong Batting Line up. Cavaliers definitely looking for a new skip, after A.MacDonald stood down after last season, but hopefully he can organize the Willowfest Warriors for another year. N.Johns name has been thrown around the last couple of seasons as a recruit, but reckon his loyalty in cricket remains with Woodside. Cavaliers achilles will still be the Bowling Department with no speedster in sight, and the likelihood of losing spin twins Farrugia and Wehrman.

Gumeracha likely again to pursue with their youth policy with Michael Jones possably to take a leadership role.

Lobey old firm of King, Hackett, Wimberley, Sziller, Grant look like they'll be saddling up again with their youthful attack.

Hopefully Palmer can pull through as they have the most talented player in the competition (T.Rathjen) and were only just shy of making the Finals last season.

Will be interesting to see if Torrens Valley program a 20-20 fixture this forthcoming season. Would be very dangerous playing Woodside!

I play for Lenswood. Interesting that you say we’ve been around the mark in the A2s for a while. Last year was the first time we actually had an A or A2s team in the finals since the late 90s, so it’s been a hard slog. :( Granted, we did win a joint A2s premiership with Gumeracha a couple of years back, but truthfully, myself and one other bloke made up the Lenswood contingent of the team.

Assuming we retain everybody from last year I’d like to think we’ll have a pretty good year. I’d like to see us perform consistently at A2 level for another one to two years before even considering A grade cricket again. The bulk of our team is aged 25 or less, so time is on our side.

We played A grade during the late 90s/ early 00s with very moderate success, despite having some reasonable teams on paper. As much as I’d like another crack at it, we need to rediscover a winning culture (something very much lacking until last season :? ) in the A2s before any move upwards. :)

if bickerstaff is coming over to the razors along with the heinrich boys and jimmy may.... that will be a fair side in any comp in the hills silky skills, and if hahndorf pick up a few new players it will really seperate the two teams from the rest of the comp i think...

Has everyone jumped off the Wistow ship after winning last year's Alexandrina and Eastern Hills Flag?? Will they even have a side??

Kersbrook could be close to signing the missing link for their premiership chase. i.e. Opening Bowler!
