No beers supplied and no photo is abit low, even if the rest is true as you said it takes 22 players to win a flag and the club should still reward them for thier effort, sounds a familar story also heard when Chris and his boys won div 7res last year players had to buy thier own drinks at the club then had to fight with drunk surporters after coach and other players were kit hit????very sad for the whole team.Wounder if wingfield have a B grade premiership photo from last year?

When I went back to Gepps in 06 I only had intentions of playing c's because of work commitments and wasnt completely serious about my football. I then told work to stick it, had more time on my hands and trained with the B Grade for around 3 weeks.. I didnt get a mention for selection so decided to just stick playing C grade. How would this encourage others to want to play B Grade?? If you dont know chris personally dont worry about any of the crap you here. He is a normal everyday bloke with a great passion for the game and Ovingham football club..

Totally agree Bubbula i dont no Chris at all before, but have seen him coach over the last 2 years when ive gone to watch Klompy play and he has impressed me with the way he coachs and treats his players.Drags players for fighting and mouthing off and i no for a fact alot of his boys as you called them last year played in the A grade while his side won the B grade flag. Why would that be if he didnt allow his guys to go up?Like i said dont no the full story at all the clubs but judge blokes on how i see them and so far so good with Chris at Ovingham.Go you cats

Moz, there is an old saying inlife, "you reap what you sow". Let me assure you that in that year the club was split down the guts by the senior coach, the c grade were alienated but....... they did not help themselves, they did not support club functions, they continued to bring their own eskies, contrary to the laws about drinking, they would not get involved with others and they wanted to do things by themselves.
With regards the GF, had they throughout the season helped the club off field as well as on field by doing the normal club things, it would have been different. The photo is another issue, that was arranged to be done later the following week, how many turned up, about 4 of the local grown products.

No excuses from the club in this, just cold hard facts.

that's funny. everyone has a different view on the truth.

i remember having a photo taken during the year which was to be used as the GF shot.... and i didn't get told about another photo after the GF. on other points. i, along with 6-10 other players and coach were often in the clubrooms for a drink after tyhe game and a few blokes havin a punt on the TAB.
that's MY view... again, we can argue about what happened and what didn't happen but it's not worth it. let the past be the past and let's look to next week, next year and what's going to happen at our respective clubs instead of what has/hasn't previously.

get on board the Catters... looking fine for 2009...

It just goes to show what you really know mate.. If I can remember rightly we infact were encouraged to attend and did attend the players night with the acts and stuff. Max Clarke was our main character. It was all fun. It was a good night. We all enjoyed it although some yobbo drunk member decided to start moking us during our performance. Myself and several of us stayed there till the early hours of the morning.
And in reference to drinking at the club. A number of us stuck around every Thursday for a drink and were always there on a Saturday night. We never at any stage during the year bought our own eskies barring GF night and were never at any stage told we couldnt do this. This was our way of celebrating and not everybody can afford $6 for as spirit based drink if there planning on have a dozen. I also remember buying a drink off the club managers son on Anzac day 2006 out of an esky!! If I can rightly remember there was 2 eskies on GF night and alot was bought over the bar that night.. And I also only remember a handful of A Graders coming back GF night and I doubt they were there to acknowledge our feat. Real serious football club!! You are now simply finding the piddliest little things to cos a stir.
And in regards to photos we were never offered a team photo after the grand final..

He wanted to know the years he played there, not the surface of the road...

Easy Tiger with the "age" jokes or I'll tell everybody you were in the "opportunity class" at school and even failed plasticine.

Churchill Rd was bituminised and the train line was also there, but in all honesty it was a while ago. back when the club played in the Church league and I was only a youngster. I still have great memories of our grand final win at Richmond oval, we went back to the club, drank long necks all night, got full as a goog and slept on the wing in my jumper. Shit I was crook next day!!

Tiger, that would be the logical thing to do but.............. in a previous fire in the clubrooms, a lot of those photos disappeared either through the fire or someone ditched them. Why doesn't that surprise you! I do have some info at home, progams etc. from back then.

I played there in 1965, 66, 67, played in 2 grand finals winning only 1, I am 61 years old, am married with 2 children, had the same wife for 38 years. If you want anymore info, ring me on 0411 0410e

Now you have my career at Ovies covered, I then played at Moonta in the YPFl for 2 years then transferred to Ramblers at Murray Bridge where my knee caved in and I retired to live happily ever after until Bubbula came on the scene and wanted to know everthing that has happened in my life. I should be so lucky!!
