I hear Bosshog has another re-union to attend, this time for a mini league game he played in some 30 years ago.

I would like to point out that the lack of shelter at Porties has been on the agenda for at least 7 years now.
The cricket club were quite happy to build and fund a shelter 30 metres wide on the outer wing immediately next to the timekeepers box next to the small dugout, but were denied due to "other sports" at the ground unwilling to fork out $1500 to pay their share as they deemed it as uneccesary.

The location of the current rooms IS a problem but can't be avoided.
Council were quite willing to bulldoze and rebuild years ago but way too much asbestos means that no-one will work on it, nor wil the council allow people to work on it.
Unfortunately, Porties clubrooms was the 2nd built in the area, can't remember the 1st, but with a little foresight they could've learnt from other clubs back then and built the clubrooms near the boundary.
So it is an issue that has been addressed, the clubrooms can not be moved or rebuilt, more adequate all year round shelter has been proposed and building permission accepted by the PNCC and the Onka Council, but as mentioned above,,,, others don't want to spend $1500 towards a $10000 project to make the idea happen.

What about applying for a Council grant? Each year they ask for reports from sporting clubs on what projects they want to do and offer grants to help out. Porties should look into that I think a verandah would be great along the boundary there, the oval is great just little things like that can make a huge difference. Can imagine it built in with a fire place and chimney in the middle, would be great in the winter cos its far away enough from the club to have a small fire.

And Cyclops the argument wasn't about turn over on ovals or durability of the ovals but some good points. I still have to say the Emu oval is absolutely terrible and Im sure most people would agree.

Did that Rodney,,, as mentioned above, out of the $10000 needed to build it the council were willing to put $4k towards it, the cricket club were putting $4500 and building it and all that was needed was $1500 from "the other sporting club" to complete the project.

Oh ok sorry mate. Poor form this "other sporting club". Obviously they still have that rift between the two clubs. A few can make it so hard for the rest sometimes.

on a serious note i heard that the reason why bodey wasn't playing A grade was because he thought the coach was a bit of a tool, before you all get on your high horse I'm not having a go at hilly, he has done very well at the emus, but some peole don't see eye to eye
