Striking, another bow to Carr's disciplined unit.

Whitey was caught under a high ball, turned around late to spoil from front on, the footy was marked high up on the chest and Whitey clumsily collected the Uni player high in his attempt to spoil. It should have been a 25 metre penalty only (after game discussions with Uni confirmed this view). At worst a yellow. Instead, Whitey sent off for the rest of the game. The incident occurred in the first 10 minutes of the game.

Really brings into question whether umpires should have this much power, judge, jury and executioner. Pretty tough to be down to 20 men so early in the day and arguably one of your best players in the showers.
Do you think this is new rule, don't hit anyone in the head and you won't get sent off. Who from Uni was of this view.

Remember Vassal going to tribuneral for a similar incident earlier in the year. Got thrown out cos the umpire didnt even describe the situation correctly and couldnt even remember what happened. Do they get cash incentives for reporting players or something? Sometimes its a joke.

Now that's an interesting question! Clubs are fined $60.00 per report and I know that umpires are paid at least $25.00 per tribunal attendance ( supposedly tea money)
There is an umpire running around in the lower grades that always mentioned that he reported someone every week 'cause it kept him in beer money. Go back through the reports and see if you can find an umpire who is consistently required to attend on Wednesday nights, that may be him.

They also are quick to report sometimes to take control of the game when infact if they upmired properly and consistantly they wouldnt loose control.

This hilights the major flaw in the red card "Send off' for a report. Sits out 3/4 's of the game then found not guilty. Crap!

This is all at the whim of an umpire, what about a send off rule for umps, a lot of them are ordinary to say the least.

One of your favourites was mentioned in the Sportsbeat as having a good month for SMOSH No Mercy. The described him as an ex-Seaton player, Robbie Fraser.

Went and watched Modbury train last night and was very impressed. The ball hit the ground about 4 times for the whole session and a massive positive was the return of Matty Neve. He managed to cut off a finger and a half at work and has missed the majority of the year. If they can get him back up forward it would be very handy come finals time.

Also watched roots last night and Tyson Burrows is playing a milestone game and sounds like a great club man... so well done to him. This game is shaping as a tough encounter and no doubt macca will have a trick or to up his sleeve.

I heard Pembroke got up today over Athelstone, i did warn the Athelstone boys not to take this game easy or they'll end up right on there arse.
Athelstone have now proven to me they are not deserving of a top 3 finish & maybe even a top 5 finish.
Only one good thing about that loss today by Athelstone, its proved me right again, the bottom 2!

Modbury probably ran the ball better off half back on Saturday than they have for the whole year.... Game was over by half time and really lacked intesity by both teams after that.... Modbury did what they had to after setting up a handy lead.

I was at the U18 game FC with precious and a few other lads. Was a good game of footy few handy young footballers in both teams.

was really surprised with yesterdays result (not Saturdays), Gullies lack of want meant 4 losses in a row, hard to believe they were sitting top 4 weeks ago.. :?

(sorry, not div 2 talk  )

Yeah PNU struggled to get past there half forward line, there chances arnt helped by the fact that Harrison played Vassal and Gunning of there. Somehow Guns managed to kick 4 still.

Under 18's game was a ripper, was good to see two of our younger A graders strap the boots on to help out on the sunday as well. The thought of beating the gullies at there home was just too good to pass up!

Modbury have the top team and there is going to be a large crowd to help get them over the line this Sunday....Now back on Topic

Few big games
Modbury v PHOS - top of the table clash(winner takes confidence going into finals)
Athelstone v SMOSH - interesting to see who NM picks in this one
Uni should beat Pembroke easily
PNU should get over Scotch
SHOC v Towns - SHOC should account for town fairly easily
