Re: 2008 Hills Country
callington team formed on the ego of several players who havent been there for years.
Nairne would have little interest in the Cally situation..what would they have to gain?

Re: 2008 Hills Country
Zed,
Given the need to rebuild in Div 6 it would be great to see a Toff back in the side, being the general at Centre Half Back and the young guys learning from him. Hopefully the fall out form the club can be gotten over for the betterment of the club into the future and have him back, great club man.
It would also be good to see Tamarappa back at the club, running out of the back lines, from full back or half back flank with that awesome kick of his. Yes I rate him highly as well, however as you said he will follow mitchell whereever he goes.
And it always good to see players back at their club that they have played their whole life at.
As for Mitchell, I cant see him back at the club, even in a playing role.
Whichever way, look forward to some good recruiting to bring the club back into the winners circle next year.

The present divisions within the club will kill it over summer anyway.
I wonder if that will be the inevitable outcome Crumber, sounds like quite a divided club, and if they don't have the netball teams as well to bring to the RMFL, then sounds like they would be better off folding or maybe even a take over by Nairne.
take over by nairne?...lets not forget how the name of "Nairne Bremer United Footbell Club" was formed...perhaps a merger in 1978?...how many times does a club have to merge?

As an outsider to the Hills, I'm curious to know why Callington was formed? Was it inspired by the Hills League to maybe even the number of teams up in the Country division, or was it due to the work of some local Callington residents wanting to have a team in the local league?
whats nairne got to do with it?

I'm not an expert on the Hills, and was talking from the RMFL perspective, i was merely putting something forward, take a chill pill.
Re: 2008 Hills Country
With the way football has gone and will go over the next couple of years with towns growing and communities growing with more land estates you will most likely see several clubs merging just to be competative.
Echunga and Macclesfield would most likely have to merge to stay up with the competition...and growing towns.
Callington would most likely leave or fold due to shear numbers.
Gumeracha & Torrens Valley would have to look at merging if they are looking at even staying in the HFL.
Even Kangarilla and Meadows may need to but this would just be for Kangarilla's sake on the juniors side.
The smaller towns and communities cannot compete amonst the towns where juniors are huge in number due to the fact there are more housing estates being developed in their area.
Over the years teams have merged folded and been built from the ground up.... it will never stop as long as more and more people keep coming into the hills area.

Re: 2008 Hills Country
What is Macclesfield's position like at the moment with numbers in the A & B grade and level of competition? The reason I ask is due to the name I was told that has been asked to coach the A's.

Maccy situation
Need 5/6 top line players esp if current coach and his mates leaves..
B grade is reasonably strong only because some players ie Heinicke and Searle who should play A Grade want to play B Grade.

Heard that Sam Russell signed a contract with Meadows while a bit tired and emotional on Saturday night while they had their end of year celebrations. Can anyone from Meadows confirm this?

He went to a few Pre season trainings at Meadows and then a couple at Onkas. Then got cleared to onkas. Apparently that was confusing for some people at Meadows.

Yep, Callington definitely up for grabs Big Fella, that's if they can still get it up next year. Doubtful starters I'd say. Heaps of Front Bar barracking happening from the powers-that-be apparently supporting the clubs' anticipated move to RMFL. I reckon many diehards would like to get it all back to the start. But alas, too old, too tired......................
Older, wiser and been there. But still love that grassroots country footy.
