We can't get to the GF without playing you, I guess you guys would be hoping we'd lose.
Focus on Flinders Park though this week, we'll worry about you guys later. Does anyone know how the FP oval is holding up?
Any word about whether it was Walkerville's decision not to play a home final?

its a bit boggy in the middle as normal. had a kick there yesterday rest of the ground was in solid nick.
We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

Hairy Cat made a post here last need that has obviously been deleted, said Walkies applied for the home final but were refused.

Why would that have been deleted?

He may have deleted it himself, it was just referring to the fact that they don't have the home final because the request was knocled back and he had a little reply to Shrek's 'attitude problem' remark.

Re: SAAFL Div 3 2008
Inside word is that Walkerville told SAAFL that they wanted the home final, but were told that the oval is not up to scratch hence the game being played at Salisbury. Walkies are p**sed off to say the least, especially since they were not given the chance to get the oval ready.
A home final for anyone would be great, which club wouldnt want to have a good crowd at their oval? The bar takings for a final would be fantastic for any club
It'll be intereseting to see if SAAFL play any finals on worse grounds then Walkerville Oval. And nothing against EP, but Walkerville's oval and facilities are a class above those at Demon Land, so if an EP home final happens, expect Walkerville officials to be on the phone to SAAFL with further complaints

Facilities are far better, yes, but anyone who drove past it would not argue that it's not fit to play a final on.
EP, whilst their facilities are way under standard and the oval in general isn't pleasant to play on, the condition of the ground itself is not that bad. My cousin played there on sunday, it was ok.

Re: SAAFL Div 3 2008
Just walked over the Walkerville oval 10 minutes ago. They seemed to have rolled to pitch area and the Smith St end forward 50. The rest of the oval is fine. The forward 50 I mentioned looks like it would get a bit boggy if it rains when it is being played on. The pitch has been rolled smooth and is already almost rock hard. If it dries out it will be smooth and rock hard and too dangerous, if it rains it will turn into a mudpit instantly. However most pitches are in a terrible state at the moment so it's probably not that big a deal.

considering we're expecting rain, storms and hail tomorrow, I reckon it would be a boghole..

Re: SAAFL Div 3 2008
interesting though that a club is willing to host a home final, but knocked back without a chance to get things right.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but i dont think there is any other club that has asked for a home final but has been denied the chance

Goal area doesn't have grass on but doesn't look like it would get too boggy. Fairly firm.
You are right Suri, it certainly sets a precedent. It will be very interesting to see whether EP get a home final now.

Re: SAAFL Div 3 2008
Whats the big deal about an oval being boggy? it is football isnt it? Amateur football for that fact. Facilities would have the green light, oval is probably boggy stiff shit i reckon. I reckon there should be only an issue is if the pitch area is rock hard.
Thats what im talkin aboooouuuut!!!!!!

I believe there are a few, namely SHOC mainly for not being sponsored by West End (someone correct me if Im wrong)
In all seriousness, Modbury would want to be doing something drastic with their oval before next week, or they may find themselves in the same boat, especially seeing as their changerooms are not up to scratch too..
