Playing at St Marys park is an advantage to 4th placed SHOC as they are familiar with the surrounds after beating Uni there last week, which is a disadvantage to 2nd placed PHOSC. It would have made better sense to give that advantage [small] to PHOSC by playing at Thebarton.

Div #4 UNBELIEVABLE... The SAAFL continuing to be amatuer in their management of the league

What advantage?? It's a field of grass with 4 posts at each end. If it was that bigger issue I am sure PHOS would organise to train there on Tuesday and Thursday night.

Rubbish, what they are familiar with what type of grass is on the oval?? I understand why the game should be played at Thebby but I don't think there is any advantage. It's an oval (A bloody big one), goal posts,a footy and the highest score wins. I reckon it would be better than playing at Thebby any way, get cars around Kenilworth and a nice day there would not be many better atmospheric rounds in the entire league. Players would be thrilled I reckon.

The adv is maybe half a goal - yes it is inconsequential!

Agree that the game SHOULD be played @ Thebarton

DISAGREE that the players would be happier playing @ St Marys as opposed to Thebarton.

Atmosphere? Try two grand stands with the Adelaide CBD in the background...

panther park was in fine mettle on saturday. grass a bit sparse here and there but which ground isn't suffering - at least it was firm underfoot.
as a uni supporter it was dissapointing to see but shoc were very good - closed down space and were just too strong up forward especially when they moved the ball quickly. as a club of course we're disappointed to finish fifth but i also know that roach said that he had the side to make the finals in div 2 not div 1. skills though from the blacks were pretty poor.
good luck to all in finals - reckon it will be a shoc v modbury gf.

bbq is good - however i got slugged $2 for adding lettuce and tomato to my burger - kinda weird when burger with salad is $5 or burger with lot (eg bacon, cheese, onion etc) is also $5.
at least it goes into a footer club.

It sounds like the catering is better at St Marys Park. At Thebarton Oval on Saturday, I banged my pie on the ground and it cracked the concrete, and I bought it during the first quarter of the B's!

Decided to wait till I got to Kilburn before I got any more food. Also, beers were $5 at Thebby, $4 at Kilburn.

We couldn't work out where our timekeeper should sit and someone told us 'up there'. 'Up there' was all boarded up and we had to get all of that removed before we could use it.

Got there and discovered we also had to provide a scoreboard attendant. I thought this got sorted out last year and they paid someone with the gate takings to run the scoreboard for the day.

SAAFL, such great organisers.

Have to agree with Jayne, I think the Div 2 final should be played at Thebarton, isn't that the reason the SAAFL took over Thebarton to use it for the match of the round.

Also I would say that Thebarton would have the best surface of any ground at the moment and yes it would be the best ground to watch footy at as well.

Where have you been all year Jayne? I'll tell you one thing, arrogance is a better quality than the ignorance you show. Fill that chip in on your shoulder. Just out of interest, what club do you support.

Did you actually hear any hierachy say they'd play Div1 finals. How convenient you don't remember the Sporstsbeat Journo apologising earlier in the year for mis-quoting Roach and Adelaide Uni's fortunes in 08.

From the PHOS side of things I think we would prefer to play at Thebby but not a huge issue really we need to worry more about winning. Catering was a bit ordinary fell for the trap of turning the pie warmer to high to early a solid pie can really ruin your day.

One big issue that was discovered on Sunday was that there was no stretcher anywhere to be found. I read all the league paperwork and don't recall seeing that as part of the home teams responsibilities would have thought it would be the ground managers.

Anyone playing there take your own.

Think it will be a massive task for shoc to make the GF from an eliminational final especially coming up against PHOS this week who they havent beaten all year.

Funny you should say that about the stretcher. Last time Modbury played a game at St Mary's as a neutral ground a bloke was knocked out. When they called for the stretcher a few lads took out the oldest looking antique stretcher i have ever seen. Looked like something from MASH.

Bit grumpy there Rot? Saw one of your players in the gym Monday night and asked him why he wasn't drinking. Said they were saving it up for a footy trip in a few weeks. Wouldn't see me in the gym that soon after my season had finished regardless. Very commendable getting strong for next year already. Maybe a few other players need to take a leaf out of his book.

Had an interesting chat about Uni's year, apparently they used 45 players in the As and 75 in the Bs. I seem to recall Rotter mentioning something similar on here. Funny how everyone seems to know these figures, must have had the excuses ingrained on the brain. Having prepared excuses doesn't seem like a positive mindset to me. Anyway, if you have 45 players capable of playing As and you can't settle a team then in the absence of exceptional circumstances this is very poor coaching.

Well Jayne ponder this, iIf you could buy a commodity for $1000 and sell it for $3000 2 weeks later what would you do.? There is your answer to buying home finals. The offer is open to everyone who has West End on Tap
