people tend to forget that Tarque can bat a bit aswell.I think they will make plenty of runs again this year. S Russell likely to get blind with wisey and end up signing a clearance to Aldgate if his previous form is anything to go by.

kick it to me wrote:Will be interesting to see the amount of teams in HCA A grade comp this year

- There's about a snowballs chance in hell of B Range staying up
- Rumours Stirling might drop the A grade (Can anyone confirm or deny)
- With such big losses can Bridgey remain competative
- And the ongoing talk of Not So Happy Valley moving to Southern

Not to mention Mylor and Eastern Ranges not being interested in A's

Could we see the comp go from 10 to 7 or even 6 teams. If not this year, maybe on the cards in 2009/10?

If some of this eventuates we should be seeing a brilliant HCA B Grade Comp

So whats happening? The AGM was on Monday right?

Torrens Valley looking to be a 6 team A grade comp, with Birdwood and Cambrai dropping back to A2s. The 6 teams would be Lobethal, Kersbrook, Woodside, Paracombe, Gumeracha and Palmer.

True...finished 4th last season, but apparently have lost a majority of their players. Will be interesting to see how they go in A2s.

HCA AGM on Monday was an interesting one as far as team nominations were concerned. I am not aware of which clubs nominated in which grades however 9 nominated in the A Grade, 11 in the B Grade, 5 in the C Grade and 11 in the D Grade. I know that Baskets didnt nominate an A Grade so i would assume that all other clubs nominating A's must be same as 07/08. These odd numbers though are unlikely to stay as listed. After the AGM the HCA Exec was meeting to discuss forced nomination changes, the aim no doubt to to make even numbers and boost C Grade numbers.

My personal thoughts will be that Eastern Ranges will be one of the clubs pushed to C's from D's. The HCA may also force up another 2 who dont fill teams in each grades, prehaps onka's, uri or any clubs who have dropped from C's to D's this season. That way there would be 8 in both grades.

If the HCA want even numbers right through the comp Mylor may be forced up to A's (its happened to clubs before), They have been heads above the rest in the last 2 seasons. That would make for a 10 team A Comp, 10 team B Comp, 8 team C Comp and 8 team D Comp. works out well. I will post the exact makeup when they are listed.

Other matters from the AGM were the availability of ovals. Some clubs have made mention that their ovals arent available early in the season. This makes programming really difficult so clubs may be playing on neutral grounds in the opening weeks or told that they have a home venue if theirs is unavailable and have to find an oval or forfeit.

Finally there was discussion about Clarendon Cricket Club who proved yet again that they are mob of half wits. They havent paid their affiliation fees for the season gone and by the sounds are refusing to do so. The only option the association has is to report them and all their registered players to SACA who can advise other associations to refuse Clarendon players from playing until the debt is cleared.

Looking forward to the season ahead!
