Inflight you have mis-read my point. No problem with Modbury buying a home final they have earnt that right by winning 15 of 18. From a financial point of view yes it is a sound investment.

My point is that the 'best' 3 games this weekend are going to be played at Henley, Gepps and Modbury so it would make sense to me that PHOS V SHOC [being the 4th 'ranked' game] get to play at Thebarton Oval. [I understand the arrangement with W/E beer Vs Coopers etc thus PHOS not hosting any finals.] But how does a Div #4 game get access to Thebarton is the question I am pondering? The only was this SHOULD be able to happen is if all D1 D2 & D3 finals, yes all 6 games are bought by the home sides...

Is Bradley Stephens back for PHOS?
Is Bradley Vassall back for Modbury?

Both important players who have missed recent game/s????

The point on playing the best game at the best ground is valid. I am going to try and think outside the square here as to why it's not happening. I would think the league would want to share around the opportunity to play at their new showcase rather than favour 2 grades.

Also hypothetically if PHOS played at Thebby this week and won (please note the if) and Modbury beat Towns (who have decided not to play home finals) the Prelim would be at Thebby as the Div 1 sides would still be in home finals. And if (again a big if) PHOS won the prelim they would play at Thebby 4 weeks in a row. Would that give them an advantage over Modbury in a GF? Maybe maybe not.

I think the initial scenario is probably the most likely and besides the other one has hurt my head.

Bandar if it becomes a Towns v PHOS prelim final, Towns will have the option of buying it due to winning the qualifying final and being in the 2nd Semi. I'm assuming if that was the case they would jump at the chance to host the game.

I think it might have something to do with not making Portland and PAOC go all the way down to St Mary's. Just seems logical that with PHOS and SHOC being more southern than Portland and PAOC, they would play at the more southern ground.

It probably would have made more sense to have the Portland vs PAOC game at St Marys - Portland ressies at Mitcham, Mitcham ressies playing before Portland/PAOC. A lot shorter trip between games for everyone involved.

Agree with you but they did tell the league even if they were 2nd they wouldn't have played the QF at home we knew we were at Thebby 2 weeks out. Again all this stuff was hypothetical

Bit grumpy there Rot? Saw one of your players in the gym Monday night and asked him why he wasn't drinking. Said they were saving it up for a footy trip in a few weeks. Wouldn't see me in the gym that soon after my season had finished regardless. Very commendable getting strong for next year already. Maybe a few other players need to take a leaf out of his book.

shpuld they be out or not - seems be an oxymoronic argument being developed here :)

Had an interesting chat about Uni's year, apparently they used 45 players in the As and 75 in the Bs. I seem to recall Rotter mentioning something similar on here. Funny how everyone seems to know these figures, must have had the excuses ingrained on the brain. Having prepared excuses doesn't seem like a positive mindset to me. Anyway, if you have 45 players capable of playing As and you can't settle a team then in the absence of exceptional circumstances this is very poor coaching.

injuries and holidays all year didn't help the numbers - and it was actually a little more and a little less than the numbers quoted. still would have liked to have thought that we'd do better regardless of the numbers used; but we didn't and will have to cope with the slings and arrows until 09 gives us a chance to right things.

No argument about not drinking at all, just said I wouldn't be there the Monday after my season finished. From the game a say you guys play I thought SHOC were far stronger and this was evident at stoppages.

As far as using that many players, I would have thought most coaches would give their right arm to have that many capable A graders.

Did you actually hear any hierachy say they'd play Div1 finals. How convenient you don't remember the Sporstsbeat Journo apologising earlier in the year for mis-quoting Roach and Adelaide Uni's fortunes in 08.

I did actually hear it.

No one rating Modbury?

Besides the fact they haven't played 4 quarters of football all year and Towns are firing, is there any other reason people think they might lose?

Just would like to see em under the pump, don't mind them winning next week but i don't think they will if they lose this week. Plus, a lot of talk about Div 1 footy from those blokes, form warrants it yes, but they are not there yet. PLus i reckon Edwardstown are on fire.

Dont know what or who you have been listening to but obviously not the people who matter. No way are the Hawks looking to next year they still have to win and then win the premiership to have any credablility. Edwardstown are going to be tough and by no means will any Modbury player be expecting to just rock up and win. They trained the best i have seen all year this week the ball never touched the ground and the moral is up set for a big day tommorrow.

Go the Hawks
