For sure.....its all kids, with big heads !

Granted a few of the hard wicket slappers would get caught out on turf......a season to adjust would see them more than competitive. A lot of people worry about looking good out there and that is their downfall.

Too many guys are unworthy and get A Grade games.

My lad is in the state under 15's squad, one of the coaches came up and asked "Do you play Para Dstricts"
"Yes, why" was his response
"We can tell by the way you play the pull shot"

They had the machines going around 130kph and he was cracking them, he hit's 6's into to the carpark quite often. I guess the pull shot gets put away a bit playing turf, I loved batting on turf, I have a far better average.

For sure. There aren't too many that can get the ball up on that surface and that shot is definitely frowned upon. "Just get in behind it and play straight".

I heard a rumour that Trevor Bailey got offered $$ to be a net bowler for the Redbacks, great opportunity.

Sorry if i got you off side a bit champ. i wasnt trying to put PDCA down or anything. i have played div 1 with PDCA a few years ago then went to turf and just thought the batting is harder on turf and you have to work a lot harder with your bowling. didnt mean to get your nose out of joint. I have only played at Paralowie for the last 2 seasons mate. fun with my footy mates

Huitema does. he wouldn't be in the top 20 for the PDCA. Besides, how would you know, when was the last time Paralowie played higher than grade 3, have you ever played district?

Here are some players that spring to mind straight off the top of my head.

Ellis
Stamatovich
McCarthy
Searle
K.Thomas
P.Thomas
Frackowski
Beazleigh
Fuller
Roberts
Burden
Radcliffe
Hands
Ozolins
McInnes
Sewell
McIntyre
Sibbick
McConnell (fully fit)
Seccafien
Hannun
Ritzema
P.Graham (with some specialist bowling coaching, this kid is quick)

Given the dedication and training, I'm sure most of these would push B's. I am a bit rusty on div.1 atm, I've probably added some that shouldn't be there and missed some that should

Yep - Fair list. Those that have played A Grade district cricket from that list are -

Ellis
Sibbick
Ozolins
P Thomas
K Thomas
Huitema
Fuller (I think)

Plus these guys -

Miles Picton
Chad McInnes
Rocco Illuminato

There's 10

I'm pretty certain that Jamie Sibbick never played A grade district, and neither has Rocco.

Only bad thing i would say about PDCA is that to many people think it is a lot better than it is. When you have opening batters trying to hit the 3rd ball of the game for a six at cow corner you know you are playing PDCA

No harm done, you're not wrong about working a bit harder with your bowling on turf, you get nothing after the first half an hour off of the pitch, I actually preferred batting on turf, get on the front foot and back to the basics, you can't do that on hard-wicket, you'll end up with a lot around your throat, BTW, Good Luck tomorrow.

I didn't mind having the openers trying to smack me around, created some great banter.

Was a wet day that one - couple of LB's going your way helped end the game quickly. Well that was word on the street anyway :D

Plenty of guys who just want to play and not worry about the politics or changing from one grade to another come back to the PDCA. They know they're in the same team week in week out and the standard isn't bad. It's not as high as A grade district and nor should it. In fact the PDCA should be weaker. It really demonstrates the inability of district sides to get and retain players who could play A or B grade cricket. Of those "20" players who could play A or B grade cricket, many would be players geographically aligned with the Jets. If the Jets were to attract a dozen of those guys then perhaps one or two might make the A grade occasionally, but how much stronger would the B grade be? The stronger the B grade, then the more form can be rewarded and I am a firm believer in the stronger a second side is then the stronger the top side is.

I think our strong B grade (they've been grade 2 or 3 for a long time now) has a lot to do with our A grade strength. The worst season our A grade has had recently was also our worst B grade season for a while. And a strong C grade (grade 3 this season), D grade (grade 5 this season) and a pretty good E grade (made the finals in div 7 I think last season but was beaten by the heat rule in the first final) mean blokes are never out of their depth going up a grade, and don't butcher sides on the way back down. Should the Jets attract even a few of our best, some from turf and some from other clubs to make their B grade stronger I think it can only help the A grade. Too many blokes leave district saying they don't enjoy it. Not because it's hard, but because they don't feel like there's any team spirit there or they don't get the rewards they feel they deserve. Or often because they're the ones that go up and down in the middle of a game when the state players return to the A grade.

Yes was a wet day but we batted sat and made around 160 i think and had brahma lodge 3 for 10 or something overnight. I was captain and they tried not to start play on sunday due to rain. Umps said if we got it safe we could play. So we got sawdust and bark from that playground next to there ground. What made us fire up was them coming to the game on sat before play with last years premiers t shirts on. If i remember rightly only me and the other opener took all the wickets. Cant remember many lb,s

Fuller would like to claim he has played A grade District but only as far as B grade.
It would depend on where you went to play , i think if you were to go out to Prospect most of the guys mentioned would play B grade at least.
Back to the creek it is.
