techno i bet he wouldnt have been scary watching from the sidelines i remember you didnt face his bowling at all the result on the weekend may have been different if benny mcgowan and ross didnt cross for the last wicket

Come on Bookie, I don't bat jack because I'm Don Bradman. Safest place for any batsman is the non strikers end. The only reason that Brown was economical(ish) is because we didn't have step ladder to reach the short balls.

Agree with PD, top bowler. Not so sure about Rohan. And whoever said the thing about finals performaces is quite right.

PS> Dutchy, I called you a cheat many years ago, which I appologised for after the game but still regret.

Techno, saw you bat down at Goodwood saints oval after smashing four or 5 cans in trial game for hills association. You definetley looked like a number 10 rather than a number 11 that day. Were there a couple of sixes?

Unfortunately no sixes, not from lack of trying though! Perhaps i was too sober?

Ah yes i remember that game now. I think i actually batted 12 that day? The only ones I could hit were the ones on the stumps. Even though it was only a trial game I remember the bowler was getting a tad pissed off.

Whilst we are on me, lets talk about my 28no against Onkas in our winning GF against Onkas. Best number 11 in the comp is what I'm going for.

Agree to disagree then techno, we thought no balls aside he bowled quite well after he got his run up right which agreed did take some time! i just think its a bit early to be writing a bloke off after one performance especially when that performance was a 3 for 58 off of 14 overs on a lighting quick Heathfield bottom oval

Yeah, fair enough. I agree if he gets it right he will be dangerous. Can't blame hard wicket/turf. I've played on both and from what i remember you still need to run in and bowl no matter what the surface. Maybe if he drops 100 or so meters off his runup?

this is the last time i will talk about Brown as its becoming a broken record of late.
as you say above "its too early to write someone off just yet" yet all the lofty guys have been trying to put the fear of God into all the forum readers with comments about he bowls 140k's plus and that even you guys in the nets cant see him.
Maybe if you guys didnt try the scare tactics you wouldnt get some many people stating the obvisous.
He bowls quick but way too short and wayward.
he hits the middle of the pitch most balls, and if he doesnt get called for a front foot no ball then he gets wides.

Dont be Intimidated of him and his run up.

there are too many better bowlers in the comp then Brown (at the moment).

In my opinion DB was the best bowler of the day for Lofty, and Sinkers was unlucky not to take a bag full either.

How can you get your run up wrong at heathfied high bottom? The run ups are normally pretty good there. I could understand if he was coming down the hill at heathfield community he would have a few dramas.
Also might add on a couple of km's if he was coming down the hill

so, what's peoples opinions on the top 4 this year after round one?

does everyone think onkas, meadows, aldgate, uraidla? Or have these teams changed too much in the off season and could there be a chance for a team like scibs or lofty to crack into it?

I reckon Onkas and Meadows for sure in the finals, Aldgate and Uraidla are always around the mark. I reckon Aldgate may drop off a bit, with Horne and Bjordal needing to make big scores for them, if Wallis is back he will be a huge in for them. Also adds to their bowling which looks a little thin at the moment. Uraidla seem to be blooding a few young lads, which may see them drop back a bit but they will be competitive as always with Hunsie and Farrin leading the way. There could be a chance for one of the other 5 teams to sneak into the four.

As for Brown its the opposition posters that are going on about him not the Lofty posters so lets get that straight first.

Techno might confirm but apparently when he came out to bat they were calling him Greeny, thinking he was our Aldgate recruit

Looking at the Aldgate side they certainly look a bit thinner, esp with the Big O getting a game. Uraidla rely on too few too often to ever threaten to win a flag IMO

i was told by inside 50 that brown bowls at the speed of sound also,
i would reckon tht sinkers would be loftys best bowler, swings em both ways and is a left armer which is always an advantage...

and also.. how about young sam furbers ton???

Silked one ... does that reflect the standard between the HCA and AEH comps? ... young Sam hardly set the world on fire with the bat at Bridgey but is able to among the leading batsmen for the Maggies against a lame duck Creek attack? Courier Cup matches maybe interesting test between the different association clubs coming up.
Are you likely to play in the U21 ranks .. chance to stitch up a few old mates from the Hills?
