A big concern for me is the future of cricket in the PDCA. Every year we have got teams dropping out and kids finding other things to do. When I was a kid, I gave my left nut to play seniors, now kids have cars, girls beaches etc and the list goes on. Cricket must be made exciting again. Would love to hear from all the gurus on how to mahe it more user friendly.
Oh try facing Lounder Lee Hayes boys Crook Librandi Laverty these guys were all quick and we played on the black poo most of the time
Not sure what the answer is to keeping PDCA going . Maybe clubs or the PDCA need to do more Junior development to keep kids interested.

Too many teams are failing to field teams, forcing kids to play. It would also strengthen the comp. Now we have 2 or 3 teams in each grade that by xmas will be getting smashed. Need more clubs to take the mycricket on board. No more s***t excuses about cant afford it , no PC at club. Lets get into the 21st century.norm11 wrote:The Orange Maggot wrote:Hello all This has taken me ages to find this site, been scrolling over the last 18 pages and some very interesting topics. Agree with the mycricket. But not a fan of the 20/20 concept. We will have two of our best cricketers missing for the last two games before christmas but we have the right people in place which gaurantees that we have great kids to play in there spots or in the lower grades

One thing is for sure, the batsman value their wicket in turf a lot more which means their strike rate is lower. Para Districts wickets are thrown away by batsman.
Hard to compare, but think a super team competition could be on the cards in years to come-
Para Districts top two against Adelaide Turf top two and Surburban also could make a great champions league concept.

As they said it starts at the top and works its way down. One thing SACA believed they needed to do was to get behind the Twenty20 concept to get people involved back in cricket once again to get numbers back up to where they were, then they can re-introduce the One Day and Test formats.
But SACA were very worried about participation numbers being down over the last couple of years.
