Any idea when the West Torrens books will be available? There are two volumes I think. Had a quick look at them at half time earlier in the year and they look fantastic. Well worth making a spot for them on the bookshelf for Eagles fans and any SANFL history buffs.

Yes the West Torrens book is on the way as well.
Same format and info as the Woodville book
Part 1 will cover years 1897 to 1944
Part 2 about to be issued, 408 pages covers the years 1945 to 1990
Watch for more information via the Eagles website

Sounds great Reddeer. I look forward to reading both clubs histories.
(Like Pseudo though I think I'll have to wait for the paperback).

I don't know if I can handle reading this for page after page.....

"After a promising presseason, with a couple of Victorian recruits, the year started off with an unexpected victory and then injuries took over and we finished outside the five......."

I know the exceptions are 79, 86 & 87.......
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I see what you mean, but I think it's a story that needs to be told. On another forum there's been a thread full of Woodville facts and anecdotes and it has been rather entertaining reading. I can't justify $100, but if I were an old Woodie fan, I'd buy it.

Sounds like Glenelg's history outside a 20 year window.

Thanks for a bit of positive feed back.
I should have mentioned that there is only going to be 100 copies of this, so only the "supporters" who really want one will be successful. If anyone has tried to get quality very short run hard copy books printed they may realise why such a book might cost $100

Yes, I understand completely. What you say is correct. Trouble is there are people such as myself who are interested in all SANFL clubs and would have liked to have read the book. Still, as I said earlier, if I were an old Woodville supporter I'd certainly snap it up at $100.

Never mind opposition club supporters, what about the overhwelming majority of Eagles/Torrens/Woodville that will miss out?

WWTFC is crazy if it doesn't release soft-cover editions at $30 a pop.

I agree. Surely a soft cover book between $30 to $50 is possible. I too would purchase that. Consider that the WT books will also cost. The SANFL interested reading audience needs to be catered for. I look on my shelf and see two Neil Kerley books, Bush Legends, Pride of the Bay, Pound for Pound, Dynasty, AFL Encyclopedia, Red and Blue Blooded, Pound for Pound, NA 1952 and 1960 and greatest team, Bloods Sweat and Tears, old year books. Is there not a Len Fitzgerald book soon. 2006 SANFL Media Guide, SANFL Records 2004 and so on.

According to your list you bought Pound for Pound twice - I'm not surprised - it is one of the best SANFL books ever written. A Len Fitzgerald book is currently being written - hopefully come out within the next 12 months.

I have to agree with the rest of the sentimonies in this thread. I would love to buy this book and find out about a club that merged when I was 9 years old and didnt know a lot about. $100 is very pricey and if there is only 100 made I wouldnt want to let an actual supporter of the club miss out.

I do hope that a soft back does come out. Id definately pay $50 for that.

I got my copy of the woodville book on Saturday (despite being a WT supporter pre 1990)

It is a great stats package... It even icludes trial match results

One issue... in 1962 W lost to G in the Night Series - was this an official game for the WFC??

50 copies of the book have been already sold.
There are only 100 numbered copies, autographed by Bob Simunsen and Ralph Sewer.
I do not intend any reprints

The SA library has requested a second copy for their records
If you are thinking about getting a copy contact the Eagles Club on 83472444
Would make a nice Christmas present!!!
