not sure about leading goalkicker at bute as they had a big bloke who kicked a bag. wouldn't have been far off behind him though. moritz is a more than useful player at this level and i reckon he won broadview's b&f a couple of seasons ago and would've come close at bute last year. beautiful skills but maybe needs to apply himself more.

Lindsay signed and is playing back home in WA with East Fremantle.

Gee whiz Swamp, how old is big Lindsay? Going from SANFL to YPFL, then up to WAFL standard again could be pretty tough! I'm sure he could do it if anyone, will be interesting to see how he goes.

not sure where that rumour came from, but clements was always staying with cms this year and never in doubt.
Clements is coaching and playing once again with hope of having a better year than last.

great "bucket" westy - i see you really know your leagues and quality of football

on a very gale force windswept kadina oval - played by two very enthusiastic hard running teams in a very interesting and enjoyable trial - kadina managed to get up 17-10 to 15-7

game was played in fantastic spirit with some big hits by both teams.

Kadina was without some of their guns because of cricket and other sport finals and i believe Portland also had a few missing - the bloods guns played really well - two of the newbies cameron faulkner and Brownie showed some great touches and obushak chimed in with 3 goals and beautiful kicking before most of the guns were rested for the second half - and portland put on their b grade for a run and a couple of players over to Kadina - the spirit in which the game was played.

overall a very enjoyable afternoon with a few drinks and BBQ afterwards.

Portland did show quite a bit, and as the new boys in Div 3 will push most of the sides there. They have some talent but were clearly beaten in ruck on the day (about only weakness)

anyways westie i have the initial privilege of calling you a knob mate!!!

Great wrap up, and spot on i reckon.

It was an enjoyable day. We definately struggled in the ruck department, and got beaten at the stoppages as a result. Faulkner was very good, as was #5 and #4 for Kadina. Also, a young bloke, #22 was very good in the second half. I thought our tackling and pressure was pretty good, but Kadina ran the ball and linked up with each other very well.

The wind was ridiculous at times, especially in the second half !!!

A few of our lads (myself included) stayed up for the night, and sampled some of the Kadina night-life. A few sick and sorry boys on Sunday morning (once again, myself included !!!).

Thanks Kadina for a great day, and all the best for the year boys !!!

Seaton 19-19 Kadina 12-9
Game played in very hot conditions - no wind this time.
6 qtrs again Seaton (like Portland) came over with a lot of players (great effort by both clubs)
Seaton were fitter, had a few more skillful players and ran the ball well when kadina turned it over - always had free players running thru the middle and hitting targets in the 50 - they looked very good and had a sound hitout - game again was played in fantastic spirit - think all players had a good run and should be better for it
Kadina played well in patches - Willy Searle up forward first game for club played well - Faulkner again showed his class as did obushak and waller.
The bloods showed they can match it with these two well drilled sides over the last couple of weeks - and their new recruits plus the return of Obushak, Waller - and rucks Franz and Phillips should give them a very formidable engine room - and give Searle some good catching practise at full forward.
Can't wait for this weeks opening at Moonta.

Here we go for the start of the season.

April 4th Round 1
Moonta v Kadina
S Eagles Y v Wallaroo
CY Cougars v CMS Crows
Ardrossan v Bute
Paskeville v Bye

Not sure bout other teams recruiting but here are my tips for round 1.
Kadina by 5 goal
Southern Eagles by 8 goal
CMS Crows by 7 goal ( being a bit hopeful here )
Bute by 5 goal

Really a guess but will no more after this weekends games.
